Installing DieWorks 2.6 on Windows 7 – 32 bit To install DieWorks you can give the User account full control or enable the Administrator account.

User Account Full Control 1 Click the Start button, then click the computer icon or click the computer icon on your

desktop/laptop screen.

2 Locate the drive on which the Operating System is installed.

3 Right click the hard disk icon and click Properties.

4 Click the Security tab, under this menu click the Advanced tab.

5 Click the Change Permissions button, located after the Permission Entries list.

6 A new window will appear on your screen.

7 This new pop up window will list all the user accounts available on your computer.

8 One can choose any user account to give full access over Windows 7, click Edit.

9 Select the checkbox labeled Total Control, press OK.

10 Completed. The Windows 7 built-in Administrator’s account is disabled by default.

Administrator Account from the Command Prompt (best method, but a security risk, disable admin account after install) To enable the built-in Administrator's account by using the Command Prompt.

1 Click Start and type CMD, then press Enter. It is best to run the Command Prompt as an Administrator. To do so, right-click CMD and select "Run as Administrator".

2 When prompted to allow the Command Processor to run, click Yes. (You can also hover over the CMD line and press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER to invoke the "Run as Administrator" shortcut.)

3 In the Command prompt window, type: net user.

Note: Take notice that the Administrator account is there, yet the new user account has not been yet created.

4 Type > net user administrator *.

5 Set the Administrator's account password: gerberprofile. Confirm password.

6 Enter the required password and confirm it.

7 To enable the Administrator's account: net user administrator /active:yes

8 To disable type > net user administrator /active: no. This should allow you to log on as administrator to install DieWorks 2.6. Otherwise you would need to explore the CD and run setup as the administrator.

9 Installing the security key in a USB port will cancel the driver prompts because the DieWorks CD will install the Sentinel drivers

Run setup on the DieWork 2.6 CD in compatibility mode

1 Install the DieWorks 2.6 CD by running the setup.exe on the CD in compatibility mode.

2 Open Windows explorer.

3 Select Open folder to view files.

4 Right click setup and select Troubleshoot compatibility.

5 Select Try recommended settings.

6 Select Start the program…

7 Answer yes to the security prompt that will be minimized and flashing in the system tray on the bottom of the screen.

8 Select next then follow the prompts to install DieWorks 2.6.

9 Select language. The Sentinel driver will load. Accept the terms and conditions.

10 Select Finish.

Verify user control

Note: This may not be required if the user was given full control but you must check to make sure.

1 Once DieWorks is installed, navigate to the DieWorks folder using IE (C:\Program Files\Gerber Innovations\DieWorks.

2 Right click the folder and select Properties.

3 Select the security tab.

4 Select Users > Edit. Add the Permissions you want.

5 Select Apply < OK.

Set DieWorks compatibility to Windows XP SP2

1 Once DieWorks installs navigate to the DieWorks Software folder using IE (C:\Program Files\Gerber Innovations\DieWorks\Software).

2 Locate DieWorks.exe .

3 Right click the icon.

4 Select Troubleshoot compatibility.

5 Select Try recommended settings.

6 Right click DieWorks.exe again select Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab.

7 Select Change settings for all users see that in Compatibility mode Select the check box - Run this program in compatibility mode for: Select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) then select apply.

8 Go to the Security tab.

9 Give the users (Profile408-PC\user) permissions up to Modify control level. Select Edit to make changes.

10 Select Users (Profile408-PC\Users) Check Modify.

11 Select Apply > OK.

12 Select OK on the properties dialog box.

13 Navigate to GQMgr.exe.

14 Right click and run troubleshoot compatibility.

15 Try recommended settings.

16 Right click GQMgr.exe > right click select Properties.

17 Go to the Compatibility tab.

18 Select Change settings for all users. In Compatibility mode select the check box Run this program in compatibility mode for: Select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) > Apply.

19 Navigate to the Security tab. Assign the users modify control.

20 Select Apply > OK.

21 Select OK on the Properties dialog box.

Install a Plotter

1 Open the DieWorks 2.6 Program.

2 It will prompt you to install a plotter (profile).

3 Select the Size of the Profile being installed. Choose Com1 port. Click Add.

4 Select OK.

5 Select Preference > Close.

6 Close DieWorks after the plotter is installed.

Installing the Accuracy Files with Datamaker.exe

Note: If you created a log in as administrator to install DieWorks 2.6 you will not need to right click and run as administrator.

1 Right click Datamaker.exe (located in C:\program files\Gerber Innovations\ DieWorks\Data folder) to create the accuracy files if it not run as administrator it will not write and update to the GSP.ini file in the window folder.

2 Copy the accuracy and backlash RTL files sent on the USB drive into the Data folder C:\Program files\Gerber Innovations\DieWorks\Data.

3 The 4 RTL file copied from the USB key into the data folder.

4 Select DataMaker.

5 Right click and select run as administrator (require so that DataMaker.exe will update the GSP.ini file).

6 Browse for the RTl file for X.

7 Select the AX file (A is for accuracy). Click Open.

8 Browse for the input RTL for the Y.

9 Click Open.

10 Select Generate Accuracy Data File.

11 Select OK.

12 Select Close.

13 This procedure created the acdat.dat file.

14 It also writes to the GSP.ini file to provide DieWorks the path of the acdata.dat and enable the accuracy compensation.

15 Location of the GSP.ini C:\Window\gsp.ini.

Registering the Mpl.dll and the Mpls.dll When DieWorks 2.6 installs, it fails to register two DLL files, this is a bug in the install. Please follow this procedure for registering the two missing files in Windows XP.

The Window7 version shipped with the Gerber Profile is the 32 bit version.

Note: In the Windows7 64 bit version there are there are two regsrv32, a 64 bit and a 32 bit.

The 32-bit version is %systemroot%\SysWoW64\regsvr32.exe.

The 64 bit version is %systemroot%\Sys32\regsvr32.exe.

Procedure for Windows XP and Windows 7 as admin or as full user control

To register the DLL files

1 Open Explorer by right clicking Start > Open.

2 Select Computer > local Disk C: > Windows > System32 > regsvr32.

3 Highlight and right click > send to > Desktop shortcut.

4 In Explorer, minimize so you can see the shortcut regsvr32 just created.

5 Computer > local Disk > program files > Gerber Innovations > DieWorks > software > Mpl.dll.

6 Highlight and left click file and drag it onto the regsvr32 short cut and release the right button.

7 You will receive a message that it was successfully registered.

8 Highlight the Mplps.dll and drag and drop it on the regsvr32 shortcut.

9 Close explorer and delete the regsvr32 shortcut.

10 DieWorks 2.6 has been installed.
