HID Omnikey Driver Update/Install:

A majority of service key issues are the result of a wrong or outdated driver. If the HID Driver is present and the

service key is still not functioning or displaying properly, install/reinstall/update the HID Omnikey driver from the

table below.

Remember: You need admin rights on your machine to install software.

As of July 23, 2017, Version 1.2.24.27 is the most current version

Use the direct links below.

Or Visit https://www.hidglobal.com/drivers and filter on the reader brand (Omnikey)/model (3021, 6121, 6221) and

your OS (XP, Win 7 …/32 bit or 64 bit).

The files above may be of type EXE or ZIP.

Images that follow are captured from a Windows 7 64 bit OS.

ZIP File:

1. Unzip the file to your hard drive and go to that location

2. Normally there are 2 files, MSI and EXE. I have had better luck running the EXE, see below.

EXE File:

With key removed from system

1. Run the EXE file to install the driver on your system (Admin privileges needed). This does not necessarily

assign the right driver to your reader so continue with the following steps.

2. Open the Windows Device Manager

3. Plug in your SERVICE KEY and wait for the device to appear in Device Manager

8. Plug on the service key

Does the Device ID appear for the smartcard in the IST Control Panel?

NO: Recheck the driver

TRY: Download the HID OMNIKEY Workbench (formerly OMNIKEY Diagnostic Tool)

For Win 7, 8, 10 (32 and 64 bit): https://www.hidglobal.com/drivers/28899

Install and run the tool. The key inserted will appear under "Diagnosis" and should

confirm the smartcard has been inserted properly, see below.

YES: Good sign that the driver has been installed correctly

Does the smartcard charge?

YES: The key should now be working and ready for use.

If the key does not work in a medical device, contact the [email protected] and

they will direct you to someone who can help based on the system being accessed.

NO: The card will NOT charge unless the device ID for the smartcard has been

assigned to your account which requires an IST Administrator. To check this,

open the IST Control Panel: View>IST Entitlements

Scroll down to bottom to view "AUTHORIZED SMARTCARDS".

The smartcard ID should be listed in your profile.

If your smartcard is displaying in the IST Control Panel but not appearing in your Entitlements view, contact:

[email protected]. They will help you get your smartcard assigned to your account. They will need

both of your ID values (IST Smartcard and IST Certificate) as shown in the example below.

5. When the reader is inserted (with smartcard) does the LED light? Does it appear in the device manager on your computer when plugged in? NOTE: It may take a few minutes for the driver to load after plugging in the reader.

6. Does the smartcard appear in the IST Control Panel? Can you see the Device ID of the smartcard or is the field blank? (below)? What is the status?

7. Download the HID OMNIKEY Workbench (formerly OMNIKEY Diagnostic Tool) For Win 7, 8, 10 (32 and 64 bit): https://www.hidglobal.com/drivers/28899 Install and run the tool. The key inserted will appear under "Diagnosis" and should confirm the smartcard has been inserted properly, see below. Try different USB Ports.

8. If possible, do you have access to a working reader or smartcard for testing? Borrow another working key to test in your PC and test your key on another system. If you find that your service key is recognized in another PC running IST, you may be able to assume the key (reader and card) are functional which indicates the issue is your PC. Swapping cards with another reader and testing can help determine the cause of the problem, be sure to check the driver first.

ORDERING SMARTCARD AND READERS:

Philips Service Key (Omnikey Reader + Philips Smartcard)

Service Smart Card 459800881391

NOTICE:

Model 6121 USB Smart Card Readers bearing manufacturer’s label Copyright 2013 or later require new device

drivers to be installed on Philips medical equipment before they’ll work. As a result, shipments of model 6121

card readers were suspended pending compatible device driver deployment (i.e. ECR & FCO

process). Subsequently, we transitioned to the compatible model 6221 until the supplies of those were also

exhausted. With no other driver compatible, SIM-sized reader alternative left available, we’re shipping the

Omnikey model 3021 full-sized smart card reader.

The Omnikey model 3021 card reader is compatible with the device drivers already installed on Philips

equipment, however, some products which use SafeGuard Smart Card Provider (SGSCP) middle-ware will

require the 3021 reader to be assigned a logical device ID.
