TRANSCRIPT
Installing the ERLPhase USB Driver Serial communication with ERLPhase 4000 series products may be achieved through the front panel USB serial port provided. Driver installation is required for proper serial connection and communication with the ERLPhase 4000 series products. Installation order is not critical; however, driver installation is recommended prior to installing other ERLPhase provided software components. The following procedure is used to install the D03467 – ERLPhase USB Driver Installation on a computer which will be used to communicate through the front USB port of all ERLPhase 4000 series relaying and recording equipment. Notes:
1. An issue has been discovered under Windows 10 and 8 where the digital signature of several drivers is not being recognized, resulting in unsuccessful installation attempts. The digital signature was created to run under Windows 7, Vista, XP and Windows 2000. To install the driver on Windows 10 or 8, users will need to disable the reading of the digital signature that belongs to the driver.
2. Please refer to the to the release notes of the software tools to learn about the compatibility issues detected with some versions of Windows 10. Microsoft is working on the issue.
3. This procedure will work with Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 7. Disabling of Digital driver signature enforcement: If using Windows 7, the disabling of the digital driver signature enforcement is not necessary as the digital signature of the driver works under Windows 7. User may begin the installation as instructed in the section “Installation Process of USB Driver”.
1. First, from Windows find the application named “RUN”. Once the application is opened, type “shutdown /r /o /f /t 0”.
