Installing the Kurzweil 3000 Web License From the WEBSITE or Flash Drive

Go to the following website: https://www.kurzweiledu.com/k3win and download the Kurzweil 3000 Version 15 Web License Installer to your computer.

Once you have downloaded the K3000 installer (.exe for PC), you can locate it in your Downloads folder or Flash Drive. Please note: It will take a very long time if you are using a wireless network. It is much faster to download the installer on a wired network. If you are using the AEC flash drive, drag the installer to your desktop.

1. Double-click the K3000 installer, and

then follow the directions below to extract the files by clicking on the Install button.

Please Note: At this time, the Kurzweil program may check your Windows Operating system to see if any updates are needed before you can install the program. If so, install those updates, restart your computer, then you can begin the Kurzweil install again. For example, you might see the update below:

2. Click on the Install Web Licensing Software button.

Note: If you have an older version of the Kurzweil 3000 program installed on your computer, you will be asked if you want to continue. Click on the Yes button. 3. The Kurzweil 3000 v.15 InstallShield Wizard will begin. Click the Next button once it loads.

4. Click on the option button next to the “I accept the terms of the license agreement” and select Next. You can keep the Default User Name, and click Next.

5. Keep the Setup Type as Complete, click Next and then Install. 6. Once the installation is finished, click on Finish & Click Yes to restart your computer.

7. Double-click the Kurzweil 3000 program shortcut on your desktop to open the program. You will be asked to log in with your username and password.

8. Your program should work just like it does when you use it in our High Tech Center lab. It is a new version, so it may have many different features. It has the full scanning feature, so you can convert your own handouts.

9. To use the Read the Web feature, you need to install the KESIReader add-on for the Mozilla Firefox browser or Chrome browser (See Help topics for Chrome directions).

a. Open the Firefox browser, and drag the kesireader.xpi file from the Flash drive directly onto the browser window. b. Click the Install button when Firefox asks.

c. Click the Restart Now button.

PLEASE NOTE: You will also notice that two other icons are showing up on your desktop. These icons are necessary for exporting your Kurzweil 3000 files into an audio file or MP3.

If you are interested in learning how to make MP3s, please come back to the High Tech Center for more training. If you do not want any audio files, it is ok to delete these two folders off of your desktop. Good luck with your installation. Call or email us in the High Tech Center
