4. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to your modem, and the other to the yellow Internet port on your router.

5. Connect the power cord to the router, then plug it into an outlet. The router is ready to use when the power light changes from amber to green. At that time the lights for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz indicate which Wi-Fi bands are available. If none of the lights turn on, make sure the Power On/Off button is in the ON position (pushed in).

6. Connect a wireless device to your router. a. Open the software utility that manages

the Wi-Fi connections on your device.

b. Look for your unique Network Name (SSID) beginning with ‘MyCharterWiFi’ — it is printed on your router and on the stickers provided. If you see the name ending in ‘5G,’ your device is 5 GHz-capable. Connecting to the ‘5G’ network may provide a better experience.

c. Enter your unique pre-set password, also found printed on your router and on the stickers provided.

d. Follow steps a-c to connect other devices.

e. Alternatively, you may use another Ethernet cable (not provided) to establish a wired connection from the router (using ports 1-4) to a device such as a laptop or desktop computer.

7. Open a browser and go to https://install.charter.com. Select “Initializing New Service” to provision the modem. No additional steps need to be taken to complete the router installation.

�1. Connect one end of the long coax cable to the outlet in the wall and the other end to the modem.

2. Connect the power cord to the modem; plug in the modem. Wait approximately 2 minutes until your modem turns on.

3. Attach the stand to the router.

Installing Your Modem and Wireless Router

• Place your router in a central location in your home for best coverage.

• Wi-Fi signal strength deteriorates over distance and as it passes through the construction materials of your home; walls, metal, and water degrade the signal the most.

• Position your router away from other devices that emit signals such as baby monitors, microwaves and wireless headsets.

• In general, Wi-Fi speeds will only be as fast as your wireless device can handle. The age of your device and its components, such as antenna and processing power, may affect Wi-Fi performance.

Wi-Fi Security Your router has a unique pre-set Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) and Network Key (Password). The default SSID and Network Key are uniquely generated for every device to protect and maximize your wireless security. This information is printed on your router.

Charter recommends that you do NOT change the pre-set Wi-Fi Network Name and Network Key. If you change the settings, the information printed on the router does not apply.

5. Conecta el cable de electricidad al enrutador, luego conéctalo en una salida eléctrica. El enrutador ya está listo para usar cuando la luz de encendido cambia de ámbar a verde. En ese momento las luces para 2.4 GHz y 5 GHz indican cuáles bandas Wi-Fi están disponibles. Si no se enciende ninguna de las luces, asegúrate de que el botón para conectar/desconectar esté en la posición ON (encendido) (hacia dentro).

6. Conecta un equipo inalámbrico al enrutador.

a. Abre el servicio de software que administra las conexiones Wi-Fi en tu aparato.

b. Busca el nombre distintivo de la red (SSID) que empieza con “MyCharterWiFi”, está impreso en el enrutador y en las etiquetas autoadhesivas proporcionadas. Si ves que el nombre termina en “5G”, tu aparato tiene una capacidad de 5 GHz. Conectarte a la red de “5G” te puede brindar una mejor experiencia.

c. Ingresa tu contraseña previamente establecida, que también se encuentran en el enrutador y en las etiquetas autoadhesivas proporcionadas.

d. Sigue estos pasos de la “a” a la “c” para conectar otros aparatos.

e. Otra posibilidad es que puedes usar otro cable de Ethernet (no proporcionado) para establecer una conexión con cable desde el enrutador (utilizando los puertos 1-4) a un aparato como una laptop o una computadora de escritorio.

7. Abre un navegador y visita https://install.charter.com. Selecciona “Initializing New Service” (Cómo inicializar un servicio nuevo) para aprovisionar el módem. No es necesario tomar medidas adicionales para completar la instalación del enrutador.

1. Conecta un extremo del cable coaxial largo a la toma en la pared y el otro extremo al módem.

Cómo instalar el módem y el enrutador inalámbrico

• Para tener una mejor cobertura, coloca el enrutador en una ubicación céntrica de tu casa.

• La potencia de la señal de Wi-Fi se deteriora con la distancia y mientras pasa a través de los materiales de construcción de la casa; las paredes, el metal, y el agua son los que más degradan la señal.

• Coloca el enrutador lejos de otros aparatos que emiten señales como los monitores de bebés, los microondas y los auriculares inalámbricos.

• En general, las velocidades de Wi-Fi serán tan rápidas como las que puedan manejar tus aparatos inalámbricos. La antigüedad de tu aparato y sus componentes, como por ejemplo la antena y la potencia de procesamiento, pueden afectar el rendimiento del Wi-Fi.

Charter recomienda que NO cambies el nombre de la red Wi-Fi y la clave de la red previamente establecidos. Si cambias la configuración, la información impresa en el enrutador no corresponde.
