SHAMBHUNATH INSTITUTE OF LAW

Shambhunath Institute of Law was established with the object of imparting quality legal education to the students at affordable costs under the able guidance of Dr. K. K. Tewari, Secretary, Utthan. It is affiliated with Prof. Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University, Prayagraj (formerly known as Allahabad State University) and approved by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi. It is also listed in All India Survey of Higher Education (AISHE, Ref: C-59041-2017) of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Its geographical position makes it easily accessible by the out-stationers while not secluding itself from the vibrant city life.

The college offers five-year integrated B.A.LL.B program in English medium with a capacity of 120 seats. SIL promotes collaborative learning in a competitive environment. It promotes representation by way of admission of various sections of society, allowing them to have equal access and exposure to legal education. It lays emphasis on clinical legal education by conducting moot courts, mock trials, and legal literacy camps in nearby villages. In an endeavor to provide social justice, we offer scholarships and freeships to meritorious students so that lack of funds does not hinder education of an otherwise talented and eager to learn individual.

A chair in the name of Lt. Pt. Kanhaiya Lal Misra has been established at SIL. Lt. Pt. K. L. Misra was the fourth Advocate General of the State of Uttar Pradesh. He was the first advocate of the country to receive an offer of Supreme Court judgeship directly as an advocate. The event witnessed great legal luminaries who facilitated the event with their gracious presence. Justice A.P. Misra (Former Supreme Court Judge), the son of Lt. Pt. K.L. Misra was the Chief Guest while Justice Giridhar Malviya, Former Chancellor BHU was the Guest of Honor for the occasion. Other legal luminaries included former Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court , Justice Rakesh Tiwari, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Singh University, Justice Ashok Kumar, Judge of Allahabad High Court and Justice Sanjay Mishra, Lokayukt (U.P.).

Our students have showcased their excellent mooting skills and won accolades at Amity Law School, Benaras Hindu University, IMS Dehradun, Galgotia University, Bennett University, 35th BCI All India University Competition, etc.

SIL encourages seminars and workshops with a mindset to foster a dialogue between the legal professionals and students. It held the following seminars in its last academic session:• National Symposium on Gandhi’s Ideology and

Legal Profession- Issues and Challenges - panellists included Dr. Rajendra Prasad (Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Singh University, Dr. R. P. Mishra (former Vice Chancellor, Allahabad University), Dr. M. P. Dubey (Vice-Chancellor, U. P. Rajarshi Tandon Open University), and Mr. Ram Naresh Tewari, a prominent Gandhian ideologue.

• National Seminar on Terrorism: Indian Challenge- panellists included high dignitaries like Mr. Sanjeev Bhaduria (Former HOD, Dept. of Defence Studies, University of Allahabad) and Col. K.K. Malviya (Retd. Army oficial EME Core).
