Outgoing Presidents Report As my term of president comes to an end and I hand off the responsibilities to Rich Zielinski, I would like to look back on this past year. I will begin with a big Thank You to everyone for what I think has been a very successful year with ITE. It is the membership that makes this organiza-tion such a success. We have had great participation in the many events over the past year. The generous contri-butions of our sponsors and membership have resulted in the award of three more scholarships to future transporta-

tion professionals as well as many opportunities for our membership to come together to learn, have fun and to promote the transportation industry. Our February Tech Lunch included an update on current legislation affecting the transportation in-dustry. Our annual Road School Banquet followed in March with an update on Traffic Signal Tech-nology and the awarding of three scholarships totaling $12,500. Our summer seminar in July was a great success in bringing transportation professionals together to network and learn about the latest innovations and technology in our industry. The annual golf outing at Bear Slide was again a success in bringing in funding and providing networking opportunities in a great social environ-ment. The membership continued the golf theme in a social outing at the new Top Golf facility in Fishers. In addition to these activities we hosted student chapter dinners at both Purdue and Trine Universities. The hosting of the annual Great Lakes District Traffic Bowl at INDOT’s Ft Wayne Dis-trict brought transportation professionals together with the students for an evening of fun, food and transportation trivia. As I reflect on all of these events it is hard to believe how quickly the past year has gone by and how many events we have been able to host with the membership. I am truly grateful to all of the sponsors, without whom we could not have succeeded. Thanks to all of our committee members for the countless number of hours that you have contributed to the organization and our profession. A really big thanks to the other board members for all of your help with the many successes over the past year. Finally I would like to thank the overall membership that has made the past year so memorable and successful. I want to wish you all continued success and a Merry Christmas. Thanks, Edward D Cox, PE ITE Indiana Section President 2018

Incoming President’s Message As 2019 quickly approaches, it continues to be an exciting time to be an engineer in the transportation industry. There does not appear to be a shortage of transportation projects and many of us have more work going on now than in years past. And it appears the outlook is looking good for the years to come as well. What a great problem to have!! These past four years have gone by quickly and it’s hard to believe that it is now time for me to step into the role of President of the ITE Indiana Section. The Board Members that I have served with, and continue to serve with, are incredible people who truly care about our organization. I am honored to serve not only as President of the Indiana Section, but to serve you as a membership and to serve on a board made up of top notch individuals! A little bit about your incoming president. I graduated from Purdue University in 1986 and have had the pleasure of working both in the government sector (INDOT) and in the private sector. Currently I am a Project Development Director in the Transportation Department at American Structurepoint and have worked at Structurepoint for the past 13 years. I have a broad background in transportation design, including road design, bridge design, traffic analysis, and engineering studies to just name a few. I am mar-ried to my best friend Anne-Marie and I have two beautiful daughters, Chelsea (25) and Madison (21). I live in Cicero where I love spending time on my deck overlooking Morse Reservoir and being on the lake on the pontoon with friends! As your President, I plan on focusing on the following:

Help educate both new and current members about ONE ITE, ITE National’s new initiative to bring more consistency within the organization and to bring more value to its ITE members

Take our ITE Technical Luncheons “on the road” to other locations around the State

Continue to engage with student chapters at several universities around the State

Increase volunteer participation in ITE activities and committees Continue to expand on the range of topics being presented at our technical

luncheons I look forward to a great 2019 for the Indiana Section of ITE! Wishing you all the best, Richard Zielinski, PE 2019 ITE Indiana Section President

Thanks to our 2018 Corporate Sponsors We cannot do it without you!
