Introduction

Since 1950, study for entrepreneurial development in India to accelerate the process of industrialization.

The study showed that entrepreneurs are born and can be made their skills sharpened , quality of an enterprise improved and generated in a good manner

Identify the people and train them through properly organized programmes undertaking risk bearing innovative activities for raising the growth rate in agriculture, in industry as well as service sector.

Thus EDP became a new concept for harnessing the vast untapped human resources

The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and small business development (NIESBUD)

The Delhi based The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and small business development (NIESBUD)

The Institute registered as a Society under Government of India Societies Act XXI of 1860 started function from 6th July 1983

The need for a national organization to serve as an apex body to coordinate the training programmes of various centers and organization in the country,

To train a larger number of trainers and motivators in entrepreneurship development, to prepare model syllabuses of training for various target groups and target areas etc.,

Objectives of NIESBUD

To accelerate the process of Entrepreneurship Development ensuring its impact throughout the country.

To support institutions in carrying out activities related to ED with greater success .

To provide functional forums for interaction and exchange of experiences helpful for policy formulation and modification at various levels.

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII)

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), an autonomous body and not-for-profit institution, set up in 1983, is sponsored by apex financial institutions, namely the IDBI Bank Ltd, IFCI Ltd. ICICI Ltd and State Bank of India (SBI).

The Institute is registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and the Public Trust Act 1950.

The Government of Gujarat pledged twenty-three acres of land on which stands the majestic and sprawling EDI campus

Role of National Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (NAYE)

Indian Industries Association (IIA) was conceived in 1985 as National Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (NAYE) for the promotion and development of small and medium scale industries. NAYE (National Alliance of young Entrepreneur) was renamed as Indian industries Association (IIA) in 1992.

IIA is an apex body of small and medium enterprises having more than 5000 member units through 30 Chapters is working for the development of SMEs since 1985.

IIAs representation in important Committees/Boards at national/State levels are Small Scale Industries Board (SSI Board) at National Level 

IIA is involved in various activities to achieve this objective such as providing feedback to the Government on policies & programmes, conducting seminars/workshops/trade fairs/conventions/studies on industrial development, providing consultancy services to SMEs and helping individual entrepreneurs in solving their problems.

“Small Industries Development Bank of India”

It is an independent financial institution aimed to aid the growth and development of micro, small and medium-scale enterprises in India. Set up on April 2, 1990 through an act of parliament.

What are the objectives of SIDBI?

(i) Initiating steps for technological up gradation and modernization of existing units;(ii) Expanding the channels for marketing the products of the small scale sector; and(iii) Promotion of employment-oriented industries, especially in semi- urban areas to create more employ ment opportunities and thereby checking migration of population to urban areas. 20

The major functions of SIDBI are given below:(i) It refinances loans and advances provided by the existing lending institutions to the small-scale units.(ii) It discounts and rediscounts bills arising from sale of machinery to and manufactured by small-scale industrial units.(iii) It extends seed capital/soft loan assistance under National Equity Fund, Mahila Udyam Nidhi and Mahila Vikas Nidhi and seed capital schemes.(iv) It grants direct assistance and refinance loans extended by primary lending institutions for financing exports of products manufactured by small-scale units.(v) It provides services like factoring, leasing, etc. to small units.(vi) It extends financial support to State Small Industries Corporations for providing scarce raw materials to and marketing the products of the small-scale units.(vii) It provides financial support to National Small Industries Corporation for providing; leasing, hire pur chase and marketing help to the small-scale units.
