Huck Model 2022 & ERT9 Sound Power Level

The sound level of the 2022 & ERT9 tool cycling withoutfastener is

Sound Exposure Level (SEL) =74.3 dB (A)Peak Value = 94.2 dB (C)

The noise of the fastener being installed in structure isconsidered process noise, not tool noise. Soundmeasurements of simulated process noise are availableupon written request from Huck International in Kingston,NY, USA.

Huck Model 2022 & ERT9 Vibration Level

For an eight hour work day, installing 3000 typical Huckfasteners will result in an equivalent weighted RMSvibration level (Aeq) of 12.75m/s2.

To calculate the equivalent vibration level for otherquantities of fasteners in an eight hour period, use theformula:

Equivalent Vibration Level, Aeq (m/s2) = (n/480) x 2.04

where n = number of fasteners in eight hours, and 2.04(m/s2) = Aeq for 60 seconds.

Test data to support the above information is on file at HuckInternational, Inc., Kingston, NY, USA. Vibrationmeasurements are frequency weighted in accordance withISO 8041 (1990).

When the trigger is depressed the throttle valvemoves to down position, pressurized air isdirected to the bottom of the air piston, causingthe piston to move upward (Fig.1a). The airabove the piston is exhausted and directedthrough the center of the throttle valve and outthe bottom of the tool. As the hydraulic rodmoves upward, a column of fluid is forced intohead, which moves the pull piston back. Theattached nose assembly moves with the pullpiston to start fastener installation.

When fastener installation is completed, thetrigger is released. Air pressure with theassistance of a spring causes the throttle valveto return to its up position. Pressurized air is re-directed to the top of the air piston (Fig.1b),causing the air piston and hydraulic rod tomove downward. The air from below the pistonis exhausted through the bottom of the tool.Spring pressure returns the pull piston to itshome position. The damper valve impedes oilflow at pinbreak helping prevent Tool Kick.

Fill bleed bottlealmost full ofDEXRON III ATF orequivalent.

Caution - Refill using Automatic Transmission FluidDEXRON III or equivalent for optimalperformance.

Step 1With fill port facing up, lay tool on it's side, and removebleed plug (55) from bleed port.

Step 2Connect tool to shop air set at 20 to 40 psi. If fluid ispresent, hold tool over suitable container with fill portfacing into container. Cycle tool several times to drain theold fluid, air and foam (Fig. 10)

Caution - All oil must be purged from tool before Fill &Bleed process. Tool stroke will be diminished if oil isaerated.

Step 3Screw fill bottle (120337) into fillport.

Step 4Stand tool upright on bench. While triggering tool slowly(20 - 30 cycles), bend fill bottle at right angles to tool(Fig. 11) . Air bubbles will accumulate at top of the bottle. When bubbles stop, cycling may be discontinued.

Step 5When trigger is released, pull piston returns to idle position(full forward). Disconnect tool from airline.

Step 6Lay tool on it's side and remove fill bottle. Top off fluid infill port, install bleed plug and tighten.

Step 7Connect airline to tool and measure the tools stroke, referto the Measuring Tool Stroke section. If stroke is less thanspecified, remove bleed plug and top off fluid. Reinstallbleed plug and recheck stroke.

Step 10Increase air pressure to specifications. Install twofasteners to check function and installation in a singlestroke, or cycle tool with stall nut fully threaded onto pistonto load up tool. Measure stroke again. Remove plug andtop off fluid. Reinstall plug and cycle and measure again.Continue this process until stroke meets minimumrequirements.

WARNING: Air pressure MUST be set to 20 to40 psi to prevent possible injury from highpressure spray. If plug (55) is removed, fillbottle must be in place before cycling tool.
