2.1 Safety
2.1.1 Safety note
The voltage of the frequency converter is dangerous whenever connected to mains. Incorrect installation of the motor, frequency
converter or fieldbus may cause damage to the equipment, serious personal injury or death. Consequently, the instructions in this
manual, as well as national and local rules and safety regulations, must be complied with.
Safety Regulations
1. The frequency converter must be disconnected from mains if repair work is to be carried out. Check that the mains supply has been disconnected
and that the necessary time has passed before removing motor and mains plugs.
2. The [STOP/RESET] key on the control panel of the frequency converter does not disconnect the equipment from mains and is thus not to be
used as a safety switch.
3. Correct protective earthing of the equipment must be established, the user must be protected against supply voltage, and the motor must be
protected against overload in accordance with applicable national and local regulations.
4. The earth leakage currents are higher than 3.5 mA.
5. Protection against motor overload is set by par. 1-90 Motor Thermal Protection. If this function is desired, set par. 1-90 to data value [ETR trip]
(default value) or data value [ETR warning]. Note: The function is initialised at 1.16 x rated motor current and rated motor frequency. For the
North American market: The ETR functions provide class 20 motor overload protection in accordance with NEC.
6. Do not remove the plugs for the motor and mains supply while the frequency converter is connected to mains. Check that the mains supply has
been disconnected and that the necessary time has passed before removing motor and mains plugs.
7. Please note that the frequency converter has more voltage inputs than L1, L2 and L3, when load sharing (linking of DC intermediate circuit) and
external 24 V DC have been installed. Check that all voltage inputs have been disconnected and that the necessary time has passed before
commencing repair work.
Installation at High Altitudes
By altitudes above 2 km, please contact Danfoss Drives regarding PELV.
Warning against Unintended Start
1. The motor can be brought to a stop by means of digital commands, bus commands, references or a local stop, while the frequency converter
is connected to mains. If personal safety considerations make it necessary to ensure that no unintended start occurs, these stop functions are
not sufficient.
2. While parameters are being changed, the motor may start. Consequently, the stop key [STOP/RESET] must always be activated; following which
data can be modified.
3. A motor that has been stopped may start if faults occur in the electronics of the frequency converter, or if a temporary overload or a fault in
the supply mains or the motor connection ceases.
Warning:
Touching the electrical parts may be fatal - even after the equipment has been disconnected from mains.
Also make sure that other voltage inputs have been disconnected, such as external 24 V DC, load sharing (linkage of DC intermediate circuit), as well as
the motor connection for kinetic back up. Refer to AKD® 102 Operating Instructions MG.11.LX.YY for further safety guidelines.

3.1.1 About this manual
First time users can obtain the most essential information for quick installation and set-up in these chapters:
Introduction
How to Install
3.1.2 Assumptions
These instructions assume, that the Danfoss AKD-LonWorks option is used in conjunction with a Danfoss AKD 102 frequency converter. It is also assumed
that the installed controller supports the interfaces described in this document and that all the requirements stipulated in the controller, as well as the
frequency converter, are strictly observed along with all limitations therein.
3.1.3 Hardware
This manual relates to the AKD-LonWorks option MCA-107.

4.1.4 How to get the Communication Up and Running
Connect the LON cable to the frequency converter. Don't forget to connect the screen as well. Never connect the screen directly to earth. Activate the
termination resistance if the AKD is the last controller on the LON cable.
When the LON cable is connected to the gateway or System Manager, and the ADAP-KOOL address has been given in par. 11-90 (is only shown when
the LON option is mounted in the frequency converter), press the Service Pin on the LON card (see picture on previous page). The address and Service
Pin are also part of the Application Wizard.
Gateway/AKM
After activating the Service Pin, wait a couple of minutes until the gateway has downloaded the needed information on the frequency converter. Com-
munication to the Gateway or System Manager is now up and running. Now perform an "Upload configuration" in the AKM.
SystemManager/ServiceTool
Communication through ServiceTool can be done in two ways. Either 1. or 2.:
1. Activate Service Pin and use the Refresh function in Service Tool
2. Only set the address in the AKD and perform the Scan function in Service Tool.
4.1.5 LED Behaviour
MS: Service LED (red)
Situation LED DescriptionNormal operation Four short pulses, then
continuously OFFThe node is running normally
Warning Short regularly repetedflash, about each sec.
One of the following problems has occured:a. The default illegal address 0 must be changed to correct addressin par. 11-90. (Remember to press Service Pin afterwards)b. The ADAP-KOOL files have been erased from the AKD102 drive. You must download new firmware to the drive.c. There is an internal fault - generating watchdog resets. The optionneeds replacing.

5 How to Install Option in Frequency Converter
5.1.1 How to Install Option in Frequency Converter
Items required to install a fieldbus option in the frequency converter:
- The fieldbus option
- Fieldbus option adaptor frame for the AKD 102. This frame is deeper than the standard frame, to allow space for the fieldbus option beneath
- Decoupling plate (only for A1 and A2 enclosures)
Please refer to the section How to Install in this manual for connections.
