3 Description of the VBF Vibratory Bowl Feeder 3.1 General The vibratory bowl feeder, together with bowl feeder, is designed for feeding materials at a single or multiple tracks. This machine is designed and manufactured for parts feeding which is based on the concept of trouble-free operation and labor saving.

The vibratory bowl feeder must only be used in combination with the corresponding controller. This combination guarantees optimum component feeding operational behavior.

The vibratory bowl feeder must be fixed onto a sufficiently rigid support, in order to avoid the conduction of vibrations to other parts

3.2 Functional description The vibratory bowl feeder is a manufactured part which transfers the part as result of electromagnetic oscillations The bowl feeder is installed on the top plate which is connected to the lower by means of the 4 epoxy sheet provided at certain angle, and they are oscillated through a magnet, so that parts on the bowl with the resonating force are moved up through the guide track resulting in little-by-little advancement of the component.

The basic construction of the vibratory bowl feeder contains the following elements.

1. Bowl feeder 2. Feeding direction3. Epoxy sheets 4. EM Coil

α Jumping - off angle β Inclination of leaf spring

The EM coil connected to the Iron core, creates a force which attracts and releases the leaf spring plate depending on the frequency of the power supply. The oscillation creates a rotary movement this tempts the material to jump from the guide track at each oscillation the component is conveyed as a result of the angle of inclination of the epoxy sheets connected.

Page 10: Instruction Manual of VIBRATORY BOWL FEEDERelmechapl.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Vibratory-Bowl-Feeder-Manual.pdfThe vibratory bowl feeder, together with bowl feeder, is designed

VBF _EAF _ Manual 01 / 01 / 2016 9

With an alternating current of 50Hz, the Bowl Feeder carries out 100 oscillations per second, since the oscillating magnet attracts the magnet armature during current pulses. This oscillation of 100Hz is necessary in order to achieve smooth or gentle transport of parts however the weight factor for drive is depending upon the part and quantity parts to be fed which varies. In a Cycle of 50Hz alternating current supply, the magnet achieves twice its maxi-mum pulling force while this is independent of the direction of current flow. With heavy or large work pieces however, it is necessary to use an oscillating frequency of 50 Hz. A half wave of the mains supply is thereby blocked by the controlling devices.
