Instructions for Educreations App

Open Educreations. This is the home screen.

Tap New Lesson to create your first lesson. The features of this screen will be introduced separately.

Any lessons you have created will show up here.

Tap this button to start a

New Lesson.

You could share this app with people in your contact list.

You can share the lesson through facebook, twitter, email, or get a link.

Instructions for Educreations App

The Color Palette. The color palette is used to draw pictures or write text. The small arrow in the corner indicates the current color. Use the arrow to drop down and choose other colors. You can reassign your favorite color by dropping down and holding your selection.

The Pointer. The pointer is used to select items or text and move them to a new position. The pointer is blue when it is active.

The Text tool. Tap the icon and then tap anywhere on the screen. A keyboard will appear so you can key in text. Tap the Done button to stop entering text and remove the keyboard.

Change the font color here. Change the font size here.

Use the arrows to move the cursor within the text box.

The Picture tool. Tapping the picture icon will allow you the following options:

Undo and Redo.

Clear Page or Clear Ink.

The Record button. Use this button when you are ready to start recording. It will record your voice and anything that is happening on the screen. A counter will show the length your recording. You can pause the recording to gather your thoughts or make changes on the screen. When you tap record again, it will start back where you paused.

Use the camera on the ipad to take a picture and have it automatically entered into your Educreations lesson. Use existing photos stored on your ipad. Get pictures from your dropbox. Get pictures from the web.

Find a picture on the web.

Hold your finger on the picture until the Save Image option appears.

The picture will be saved in the camera roll of the ipad.

Clear Page will remove everything from the page. Clear Ink only removes the ink, not pictures or typed text.

Choose a Background. By default, the screen will have a white paper background, but you can choose to have a different paper background.

Duplicate icon.

Page counter. The first number is the page number. The second number is the total number of pages in your presentation.

This indicates you are on the 2nd page of a 3 page presentation.

Page navigation. Use the arrows to move between the pages. The forward arrow will add a new page.

Duplicate Page & Ink will make a copy of the page keeping the pictures, typed text, and ink. Duplicate Page will make a copy of the page keeping the pictures and typed text, but removing ink.

Instructions for Educreations App

Saving your Educreations presentation. After you have created your slides and recorded the presentation, tap the Done button in the upper left. You can choose Save Lesson or Start Over.

After tapping Save Lesson, you will be prompted to enter a title and description. Then, tap Next.

You need to decide if you want to keep the presentation Private which stores the presentation on the ipad (suggested for students) or Public which stores the presentation on the Educreations website so you can access it from your computer (Public instructions later).

Use the arrows to select the Subject Area and Subject. Tap Save.

After tapping Private, tap Next.

Your presentation will be saved in My Lessons.

To delete any lessons, tap the trash icon. The lessons will show a minus sign. Tap the minus sign and tap Delete. Tap Done.

To do a Public save you must set up a free Teacher account. Then, you can save your videos on your computer. Tap Done when you are through creating. Choose Save Lesson. Enter the title and description. Tap Next.

On the Audience screen, choose Public then Next.

Choose the Subject Area and Subject, then tap Save. You will be prompted to create an Educreations account. Tap Create Account, select Teacher, fill in the information, and tap Register. You now have an Educreations account.

From the opening screen, tap Create.

Tap the Character icon on the left so you can Customize Your Character.

Choose the Gender. Female or Male.

Tap Skin Tone to change the skin to the desired tone.

Tap Eyes to change the color.

Tap Head to change the size of the character’s head.

Tap Hair to change the character’s hair style and color.

Tap Top to change the character’s shirt style and color.

Tap Bottom to change the character’s pant style and color.

Give your character some attitude with Emotions.

Tap Background and there are 3 options.

Take Photo will use the iPad camera to automatically insert the picture into Tellagami.

From Library will use an existing picture or a picture you get from the internet.

*** To get a picture from the internet, hold your finger on the picture until the option comes up to Save Image. Tap Save Image and the picture will be placed in Photos on the iPad.

Use Ours will allow you to select some pre-made backgrounds.

Instructions for Tellagami App

You can move the character to a new position by holding and dragging. You can resize the character by pinching two fingers together to make it smaller or expanding two fingers to make it larger.

There are 2 ways to record the narration. You can Record your own voice or you can Type in text and choose a voice.

Record your own voice. Speak loudly and clearly. Tap the Record button. A timer shows the length of your recording. You can record for 30 seconds. Tap Stop to stop recording.

Tap Preview to listen to the recording. If you need to redo the recording, tap Record with the X in the corner and record again.

Instructions for Tellagami App

Type your text into the open area. *** NOTE: you must be on the internet for this option to work.

You may enter a total of 450 characters. The amount of remaining characters appears in the upper right corner.

Then, decide on which Voice you want to use.

Tap Done.

Saving your Gami. When you are satisfied with your presentation, tap the Share icon. Tap Save and your Gami will be saved in Photos, Albums. Depending on your computer settings, you may be able to transfer the Gami to your computer through the iPad cable. I have not been successful at sending the Gami through email.
