RETAIL NETWORKING – Vp plcMulti-site operations and the integration of new acquisitions in a retail environment both bring their own particular ITchallenges, not least when an organisation’s set-up extends to remote areas. This was the situation facing an equipmentrental business with six divisions. Operating in diverse markets, rapid expansion had led to the opening of more than 40 newsites in two years. The IT challenge ranged from assimilating acquisitions with their own IT suppliers to the need to manageincreasing data volumes to backup. What is more, acquisitions at short notice needed immediate connectivity so newbranches could be up and trading on their first day.
