August 2011 – Integra Festival Special Welcome to the fifth newsletter outlining the activities of Integra: a Europe-wide live electronic music project led by Birmingham Conservatoire (UK) and funded by the European Commission. Currently, the main focus of our activities is the upcoming Integra Festival 2011, which will be held at the Royal Danish Academy Of Music in Copenhagen from 27 September - 1 October. The event will feature world premieres of Integra commissions, performances of migrated works, Integra Live workshops and presentations from student composers. Among the invited guests will be international experts in live electronic music and cultural ambassadors from our partner organisations, alongside members of our outreach group - but all are welcome, and with tickets priced at only DKK 80 per concert, it provides a great opportunity to network, learn more about our work and experience Integra first-hand! We are very grateful to Kulturkontakt Nord and the Nordic Kulturfond for helping us fund the event. The full Festival schedule is published on our website (www.integralive.org ), but highlights include: Athelas Sinfonietta and IEM perform Integra commissions Extended Apocalypsis by Philippe Leroux and Le nubi non scoppiano per il peso by Mauro Lanza on 27 September, the latter a Danish premiere. Court-Circuit and Grup Instrumental perform a selection of works migrated from their original platforms to Integra Live on 28 September, including Dialogue de l’ombre double by Pierre Boulez. Ars Nova and Muzyka Centrum perform the world premiere of Alvin Curran’s Integra commission Circus Maximus on 29 September. BIT20 and NOTAM, finish the festival in style with another world premiere, that of Iris Ter Schiphorst’s Integra commission AUNG, on 1 st October. Outside the Integra Festival, performance activity has also been intense, with 2011 seeing the world premiere of Hilda Paredes’ Integra commission Revelación on 12 May at the ENSEMS Festival - given by Grup Instrumental de València and BCU - and a number of further performances scheduled, including the world premiere of Mauro Lanza’s Integra commission at the Ultima Festival, Oslo, on 11 September – to be given by Court-Circuit and Malmö Academy Of Music – a concert featuring both pieces at Thèâtre des Bouffes Du Nord, Paris, on 19 September – to be given by Court-Circuit, Malmö Academy Of Music and BCU - and a performance of Integra commissions Ça Tourne Ça Bloque by Adamek and Respire by Jodlowski on 20 September by Grup Instrumental and Malmö Academy of Music, as part of the Alicante Festival.
