Introduction

The Vickers Integrated Motor Pump is aunique combination of a conventionalAC induction motor cooled with systemhydraulic oil and a Vickers hydraulicpump, either fixed vane pump orvariable piston type, housed in a specialsound reduction enclosure.

This combination provides anexceptionally quiet and small pumpingpackage for any industrial applicationrequiring up to 125 horsepower (92kilowatts) of continuous hydraulic power.

The package comes completelyassembled, tested, and ready forinstallation.

Circulating the hydraulic oil through themotor, bathing both the rotor and stator,makes it possible to obtain twice thenormal continuous output power fromthe motor windings. As a result, physicalsize reductions of 35% to 50%compared with conventional pumpingpackages are possible. Normaloperation of the motor is not affected bycirculating oil through it, nor is thesystem’s hydraulic oil damaged.

Heat generated within the electric motoris carried away by the hydraulic fluid anddissipated by the hydraulic coolingsystem. A motor fan is not needed,which makes it practical to cover theentire assembly (motor and pump) witha compact, polyethylene soundreduction enclosure. This reduces thesound from the pump as well as themotor, resulting in a noise levelreduction that is unsurpassed in theindustry.

A complete line of standard Vickerspumps can be fitted to the IntegratedMotor Pump including single fixed vanepumps, single variable piston pumps,double vane pumps, double pistonpumps or mixed vane and pistoncombinations.

Rewinding Procedure for allIntegrated Motor Pumps

1. Remove end bells, discard o-rings.

2. Remove rotor and wave washer.

3. Remove feed-thru and adaptor plate,discard the o-rings.

4. Remove the stator anti-rotation pinplugs, if so equipped, discard theo-rings.

5. The stator is not removed from thehousing, treat them as a unit.

6. Heat in a furnace to 600� F for 6hours, remove debris.

7. Shot blast stator with glass beads, donot use sand.

8. Clean with an air drying solvent, nowater.

9. Replace adaptor plate and feed-thruusing new o-rings, torque screws tospecification.

10. Reline stator slots with no less thanClass H insulators.

11. Use a standard rewind procedure withClass H insulation.

12. Hook up stator and feed-thru leadsfor proper operating voltage.

13. Braze leads with copper silver alloyrod (trade name Fluff copper) ifavailable.

14. No additional flux, if possible, orcrimps are used in the hook-up.

15. Clean, trim, and smooth out the joints.

16. Use glass filled tubing for insulation,do not use tape.

17. Lace connections to the butt windingwith heat shrinking polyester ribbon.

18. High potential test voltages inaccordance with NEMA MG1-13.03Section B Induction Motors, andNEMA 1-3.01 Sections 3.01.6 and3.01.12 must be followed.

19. The stator and housing must not bedipped in varnish.

20. To insulate the stator, use a pour-thruvarnish, Dolph Corp. recommendsCC 1049. Refer to their data sheetDolphon CC 1049 Polyester Pour onResin Kit Class H, for applicationinformation.

21. Reassemble the rotor, wave washer,and end bells with new o-ring andtorque to specifications.

22. Bench test.

23. Torque specifications and hardwaremay be found in the overhaul andservice parts literature.

24. Internal cleanliness is extremelyimportant. Protect internal surfacesand rotation mechanism from debrisand airborne dirt.
