Integrated Visualization ofStructure and Attribute Similarity ofMultivariate Graphs

1. Motivation

•Given a subset of nodes being similar in their attributes, do they exhibitsimilar structural properties?

•Given a certain substructure of the graph, do the nodes in that substruc-ture exhibit similar attribute values?

3. Matrix Ordering

• To identify patterns in the matrix the rows and columns can be sortedbased on structural characteristics (left) or similarity of attribute values(right).

4. Details through Dynamic Rearrangement

•Dynamic rearrangement of matrix cells for a selected node to create a side-by-side view of its structure and attribute similarity

(a) Select node. (b) Insert gaps. (c) Rotate partial coloumns. (d) Aligned view.

2. Overview Matrix

Attribute Similarity

Structure

•Attribute Similarity:– A cell shows the similarity of a pair of nodes with respect to their asso-

ciated multivariate attribute values, darker colors represent high simi-larities

•Structure:– A cell is filled with a color if an edge exist between two nodes, darker

colors indicate higher edge weights
