VI. CONCLUSIONS
Wewould liketoreiteratethatwhathasbeenpresented isexclusivelybasedontheresponsestothe

Weconcludewiththefollowingpoints:
Repliescamefromallcontinents. Bothmenandwomensreligiousinstitutesresponded. There isareasonablygoodvarietyof involvementbyreligious inthecare fortheearth. However,
basedonthenumberofresponses,itstillseemstobepastorallyofmarginalimportance.
Thereweresomeverydetailedresponses,indicatingastrongdeterminationamongsomeinstitutestocarefortheearth.
Similarly,thereweremanyvagueresponses,indicatingmoreofadesiretoeventuallydosomething. Somerepliesfocusedmoreonwhatneededtobedone,ratherthanwhatactuallyisbeingdone. Replieswerereturned inall languages,particularly inEnglish,Spanish,andFrenchand toa lesser
degreeinPortuguese,ItalianandGerman.
GeneralandProvincialChapterstendedtoincludetheintegrityofcreationasanaspectofbroaderresolutions.
Few
institutes
have
made
explicit
commitments
to
the
integrity
of
creation.
Manyprojectsareorientedtowardsbringingaboutchangelocallyandwithinreligiouscommunitiesthemselves.
Based on the responses, numerically few religious are involved at the level of systemic change(lobbywork).
Few respondents are coordinating projects with other groups involved in environmental workincludingotherreligiousandNGOs.
Someareimplementinggovernmentalenvironmentalprogrammes, particularlyinschools. The survey responseshighlight somedifficulties involved in thedistributionand the collectionof
information at the international level from Rome. It is clear thatmany religious institutes and
individualreligiousinvolvedinthisaspectofministryneverheardaboutthesurvey.
The initial responses provide valuable information for the development of a data base, whicheventuallywillallowreligiousinvolvedinthisministrytocommunicateamongthemselves.
Thesurveymayencouragethoseinvolvedtobecomepartofanetworkinthefuture.Rome,October2008
