applicable to the Intel Insight Platform.

2 About this release 2.1 Highlights

The accuracy of measurements made using the in-platform tools has been improved.

X & Y coordinates have been added to the point tool.

The mesh resolution can now be set for models created using the Pix4D* engine.

Three additional methods for calculating volume have been added to the polygon tool.

Several UX tools have been updated to allow more complex analysis of layers such as the DSM and

multispectral indices.

The 3D view has been improved to permit users to include both intensity and classification views for a

point cloud.

The menus for the 3D view have been improved for clarity and ease of use.

The uploading process has been overhauled to simplify the experience.

A perimeter measurement has been added to the polygon tool.

3 Improvements and fixes 3.1 Improvements 3.1.1 The accuracy and precision for the length, area and point tools

have been improved.

Measurements for length and area are now calculated based on the World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS84)

ellipsoid.

The precision of the latitude and longitude coordinates has been increased to 8 decimal places.

3.1.2 X & Y coordinates have been added to the point tool

The point tool now provides X & Y coordinate information in the project’s coordinate reference system (CRS),

in addition to the latitude and longitude coordinates.

3.1.3 The mesh resolution can now be set for models created using the

Pix4D engine.

As part of the improved uploading process, authorized users can now select the resolution of the generated

mesh, by choosing Custom processing settings from the Processing options menu.

3.2 New features 3.2.1 Three additional methods for calculating volume have been added

to the polygon tool

The volume calculation tool has been updated to include three new calculation methods. In addition to

'lowest point', users can now also choose either 'triangulated surface', 'best fit plane', or ‘Z value'. Users can

now choose to save the value as a layer for display or export.

Name Method

Lowest point The reference surface for the base of the calculated volume is a

horizontal plane fixed at the vertical height of the lowest vertex.

Triangulated

surface

The reference surface for the base of the calculated volume is

generated by forming triangles connecting all vertices.

Best fit plane A flat plane which fits the set of selected vertices is calculated

using a least-squares method.

Z value The reference surface for the base of the calculated volume is a

horizontal plane fixed at the vertical height specified by the user

3.2.2 New UX tools for raster layers

Several new UX tools have been updated to allow more complex analysis of layers such as the DSM and

multispectral indices. These include:

The implementation of the histogram.

Modification of the color gradient selection.

A choice of intervals.

The addition of an eyedropper to get raster values at a given point (without needing to create an

annotation).

The histogram and associated tools shown in the information panel to the right.

point

3.2.3 The 3D view now permits users to include both intensity and

classes views for a point cloud.

By selecting the layer in the 3D view, additional visualization and style options can be accessed in the right-

hand information panel. Intensity and classes views can be found in addition to the existing Elevation and

RGB options.

An example dataset showing a classified point cloud using the Classes view

The style options for meshes now include an opacity control that is useful in comparing multiple meshes and

point clouds.

3.2.4 A perimeter measurement has been added to the polygon tool

A perimeter measurement, based on the WGS84 ellipsoid, will now be calculated and displayed in the

information panel when the polygon tool is used.

3.3 Bug Fixes Fixed a bug that hid preview images of the orthomosaics for users of the Operator class.

Fixed a bug that prevented users from resuming an upload that was paused, if the user logged out.

Fixed a bug that under certain conditions stopped users from receiving notifications for completed

uploads and products.

Fixed a bug that duplicated deleted polygons during the reflectance calibration.

Projects reported in usage monitoring are now reported with the correct name if the project name is

changed.

Fixed a bug that logged the wrong date for a mission that was created with an externally uploaded file

rather than images.

Fixed a bug that hid the zoom controls in 3D when the information panel was opened.

Fixed a bug that incorrectly launched the multispectral GCP tagging interface for RGB datasets with the

same time and date.

Results shown in the information panel (for example in elevation profiles & volumes) now reflect the

project units (metric or imperial).

Fixed a bug that stopped the processing area from being cropped when using the Bentley* engine.

4 Known issues Some large projects (>35Gigapixels) processed post-flight using the Bentley engine did not process as

ordered. This is currently under investigation. In the interim, Pix4D is recommended for processing

projects of this size.

link within the home page of the Intel Insight Platform.

6 Hardware and software compatibility The Intel Insight Platform is currently designed to work on Chrome browsers on screens with a minimum

resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Performance may vary depending on your hardware setup and application

and connection load.
