Business ScenarioOur client had a pressing need to develop Learning Management System as one of their upcoming projects - a solution that was accessible to the tutees and tutors 24/7 and intuitive enough for a diverse set of learners. A simple web-based application with custom theme to match the design of the curriculum content that gave a consistent look and feel was required. The functionality would lead to seamless transition that managed educational records and delivered curriculum based courses.

Cygnet’s SolutionCygnet offered a web based LMS that delivered curriculum- based learning experience to the tutees whereas the tutors could impart training through personalized approach for easy online interaction. Cygnet advanced their eLearning capabilities by providing an integrated content curation platform that aggregated, extracted, elevated and combined the content for better collaboration and engagement.
The functionalities of the application could be bifurcated as:
Profile Creation: Email id, Password, Name, Gender, Date of Birth and Subjects had to be filled in for tutees’ and tutors’ profile creation. It was a mandatory practice for the tutors to take tests for the subjects selected.
Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT): Facilitated one-to-one training and learning, according to the curriculum hierarchy where the tutee could raise a request for a subject and the tutor could discuss and interact with them through the training material. The environment of the portal was designed to simulate the traditional classroom learning experience with help of white board facility for the tutors.
Curriculum Management: Curriculum can be bifurcated in to two - Lower Level Curriculum (LLC) and Higher-Level Curriculum (HLC). For acquiring LLC certification, tutees had to appear and clear all the examinations throughout the course. For HLC certification, only a single subject had to be selected.
Request a Session: The tutee could avail training sessions for any course or subject. He could select tutor based on their subject preferences, proficiency and feedback/reviews given by other tutees. The tutee could raise a request for a session, which the tutor could accept or deny.
Two-way Messaging: Tutors and Tutees could communicate with each other and share videos, images, documents and PDF files through messages.
Session Information Display: The calendar feature listed all the activities of a profile and displayed details like upcoming training sessions, past successful sessions, cancelled sessions and those which could not be attended. They are displayed in orderly date-wise manner.
Forums: The most vibrant section in the web app that helped to define the category and subcategory of the post, rating of the answers, post questions and receive answers and allowed you to share these posts to other social media platforms.

Advanced Reporting: LMS allowed creation of personalized and downloadable reports for outlining the progress of students, time taken for certain task, completion of work, training sessions cancelled by tutor or tutee etc.
Social Media Integration: There could be an enhanced exposure and visibility where one could gain huge perception by referring to reviews from past tutees. The tutees could also share their course completion certificates on social media portals to build their professional profiles and increase credibility.
Time-zone Management: This portal enabled international tutors and tutees to participate across various time zones. The courses could be managed in the UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) format.
Payment Gateway: An integration of MEPS Payment gateway was provided which authorized multi-currency payments through electronic check like Credit/Debit card, Net banking assisting ease in transaction. Through this gateway one could procure the benefits of processing refunds, safe recurring transaction which could be carried out in real time or batch mode.
Commission Management: The portal offered a monetizing medium to the client. Apart from offering a share of profit to tutor, the admin (in this case the client) could also charge a fee. The admin has the right to decide the commission amount which would be agreed upon while registering. Tutee had to pay-up entire Course fee upon course finalization. Upon tutee’s fee payment, the pre-decided commission amount would be credited to tutors and admins account according to the ratio decided. This would be mapped with payment gateway to process the amount to the respective parties. Amount is charged according to the sessions signed up for.
