AUTOMOTIVE BODY TECHNOLOGY - The course includes training in the latest procedures, products and tools approved by I-Car for the collision repair industry including S/P2 Safety. Students will begin with basic panel preparation and advance to ultrasonic damage diagnosis on the Shark II system. In addition, students will learn refinishing procedures and custom painting using both conventional and water-based paints. Welding instruction will include both steel and aluminum MIG welding.

CARPENTRY - The high demand for skilled labor in the building construction industry makes training in the carpentry class at SCTC the perfect opportunity to obtain good paying local employment. Here you will receive training in all the skills required in residential construction through the modular house project. Many of these skills are trades of their own, such as roofing, dry wall installation and finish, finish floor installation, cabinetmaking, framing contractor, and finish carpenter. $8,000 Programs CULINARY ARTS - Students learn the main functions of ordering, preparing, cooking and serving food in restaurants, cafeterias, hotels and institutions. Instruction includes practical experience in the school restaurant and bakery where they study the following occupations: chef, cook, baker, salad maker, line cook, prep cook, cake decorator, serving staff and cashier. Special emphasis is placed on safety, sanitation, restaurant management, menu planning, daily operations and nutrition. Upon graduation, students are prepared for entry level positions in various types of establishments or for higher education admissions in colleges or culinary schools.

· CERTIFICATION: US Dept. of Agriculture ServSafe DENTAL ASSISTING - An instructional program that prepares individuals to function effectively as an integral member of the dental health team. The practitioner will learn to perform chair-side assisting, related office duties and selected dental office laboratory procedures and dental radiography. The planned courses include instruction in standard precautions, OSHA regulations, communications skills, computer literacy, anatomy and physiology, along with microbiology and sterilization. Dental Science instruction includes content in dental materials, dental radiography, oral anatomy, histology, oral embryology, oral pathology and therapeutics. Clinical science portion will emphasize the principles and application of office management, chair-side assisting, dental emergencies and legal/ethical aspects of dental practice. Clinical practice is an integral part of the program designed to perfect students’ competence in performing dental assisting functions.

FORESTRY - The forestry program is designed to train students in woodland care and management which includes logging, cutting, planting, and marketing of wood and wood products. The course also covers skills involved in sawing, drying, and grading lumber. MASONRY - Training involves many aspects of the Masonry and Concrete construction fields. Students will learn brick and block laying techniques. Students will work with various types of stone and ceramic tile. Students will learn various concrete applications including decorative concrete. Masonry students can learn to construct a project from layout to completion, including cost and material estimates.

· CERTIFICATIONS: OSHA 10 Construction; National Assn. of Home Builders PRE-ENGINEERING DRAFTING & DESIGN - The advancement in technology and the need for drafting technicians continues to grow. Students learn and may specialize in mechanical or architectural drafting, or civil engineering. Students use the latest computer aided drafting software and will have the latest technology including a 3D printer and scanner, laser engraver, total station, as well as GPS units.

School of Practical Nursing A Practical Nurse (LPN) is an integral part of the health care team who works with physicians and registered nurses to provide skilled care and comfort to patients.

The Practical Nursing program at SCTC provides an opportunity for students to start their health care career by completing a 52-week academic program with 4 recess weeks. Classes are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. Clinical will be daylight and evening rotations. The program is divided into four (4) levels each lasting approximately 12 weeks. Total program hours are 1550 with 645 theory hours and 905 clinical hours.

Level 1: Fundamentals of Nursing, Body and Function, Nutrition, Math for Meds Level 2: Pharmacology, Maternal - Child Health Nursing, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Intro to Medical/Surgical Nursing Level 3: Medical/Surgical Nursing I, Personal and Vocational Relationships Level 4: Medical/Surgical Nursing II, Leadership

Clinicals at the Somerset location will be held at Conemaugh Hospital, Somerset Hospital, Meadowview Nursing Home, Laurel View Village, and The Patriot.

Clinicals at the Bedford location will be held at Penn Knoll Village, UPMC Altoona, UPMC Bedford, and Donahoe Manor.

Students will have specialty rotations to different medical facilities outside a hospital: John P. Murtha Neuro Pain Center, The Advanced Wound Care Center, Home Nursing Agency, Pennwood Family Medicine, In-Touch Hospice, and Interim Home Heath.

There is a $110 application fee that includes the entrance exam. After you submit your application, please call the LPN office and register to take the TEAS entrance exam.

After acceptance into the school, you will be required to have a physical, 10-step drug panel, 2-step Mantoux, Rubella, Rubeola, Hep B, Varicella, Tdap, & Mumps Titers, Flu Vaccine, and criminal clearances (FBI, PA & Child Abuse). Additional background checks may be required.
