CURRICULUM VITAE

GSA opened my eyes and mind to design conversation of all disciplines. It was here that I recognised and strengthened my passion for design and my enjoyment of all stages of the design process from research and problem solving to development and the production of a solution to the brief. I also discovered the benefits of group discussion alongside individual development. I thrive on research-lead projects that require me to deliver functionality as well as aesthetics

I became a confident user of Vectorworks and the Adobe Creative Suite as well as developing a much needed conviction whilst talking about, and presenting, my designs.

My degree came with distinction for my extended essay:Teaching for Excellence: Pedagogical Tensions of a New CurriculumConcerns Facing Scottish Primary School Teachers following the development of ‘A Curriculum for Excellence’

I took the opportunity to explore my other keen interest for the extended essay, and although my particular choice of topic, education, was not directly design-based, I utilised my essay research to feed the development of my final design project; An education training centre for the implementation of the new curriculum.

An education centre that implements and demonstrates the contents of Scotlands new ‘A Curriculum for Excellence’.

The centre is aimed prodominantly at the needs and education of university students, although primary school pupils are a vital tool in the working, and success, of this initiative

‘The Met’ was an introduction to Interior Design Practices that provided me with, and fine-tuned my skills in, manual orthographic drawings, 3D perspective drawing, Life and Location Drawing, basic CAD, model making, surveying and construction analysis.

Clients included retailers Marks and Spencers, The Body Shop and Seddiqi, as well as Philip Morris, a leading producer of tobacco products and Mushiereb Properties; the company prized with the development and regeneration of Doha, Quatar.
