IntroductionAs we move into our third year with our Interior Stile and Rail catalog, we’ve continued to make improvements with each edition. Improvements that create more selling opportunities such as a larger selection of stocked doors and more comprehensive interior door information including locks, hinges and jambs, all as part of an ongoing effort to improve the quality and effectiveness of our catalogs.

For the past 100 years, the Reeb name has been known for providing quality, service and value to its loyal customers. We look forward to the next hundred years.

Use this as a guide to select doors to match or contrast your kitchen cabinets, floors or furniture. In addition, we have included a mixture of bi-fold doors to match your interior selection. See our Exterior Stile and Rail catalog for co-coordinating exterior doors. And for those upscale homes, set yourself apart with our collection of 8 foot interior doors.

Our Interior Stile and Rail Catalog is one more thing that differentiates us in the market. It provides yet another reason why there is continued demand for Reeb® products. We have provided a solution to extended lead times by allowing you to quickly and easily navigate through our catalog and choose from a wide selection of stocked doors.

Species

There are really no right or wrong answers. These are all individual preferences and based on your personal taste. So what’s really important to know?

First choose your species.Should it be a hardwood or a softwood – and what’s the difference? A hardwood such as Maple, Oak, Cherry and Knotty Alder offers strength and stability. Softwoods such as Pine can bring a charming weathered quality to your home. Keep in mind wood species of all kinds will exhibit some color changes when exposed to light.

Painting or Staining?Different species react differently when stain is applied depending upon the characteristics of the wood. Lighter stains will show more of the natural traits and color variances in the wood. Darker stains can look beautiful but may hide the natural color of the wood.

Painting of course will cover the wood color entirely but allows for design flexibility. Stronger grain patterns or hairline cracks may be pronounced enough to show through the paint.

How do I choose a door? Which species is best? Should I paint or stain? If I want glass, do I have any options? Can I mix species?

What glass options do I have?Standard glass options stocked by Reeb® include clear glass, frit glass, satin etched glass and decorative glass with caming. Other options are available special order with an extended lead time.

You must first decide if capturing natural light or maintaining privacy is more important. Is the door leading into a sun room or living room or perhaps hiding groceries in the panty? Clear glass will allow the maximum natural light to flow through your home while frit and satin etch glass will afford the most privacy.

Our StrategyAs you look through our catalog, it will become clear that Reeb® is committed to Stile and Rail doors. This includes all three of our Pine species but none more so than Ponderosa Pine. We stock more designs and sizes than any other distributor in the Northeast.

In addition to pine doors, Reeb® has a large selection and inventory of fir, primed stile and rail and hardwood Simpson® Fir, Reeb Specialty Products Primed and Rogue Valley and Karona hardwood doors.

We have expanded our offering with additional designs – all with a fast lead time for both you and your customer. Additionally, Reeb® has introduced a collection of imported doors for the purpose of offering you a value choice. Not to be left out, our selection of 8’ doors work beautifully with the charm and grand features of southern style homes.

And for that totally unique door, Reeb® will be happy to help you with a custom door by Simpson®, Rogue Valley, Caoba or Bolection.

A pine is a pine is a pine. Or is it??A pine is a pine is a pine. Or is it?? Reeb® offers 3 types of pine doors – Ponderosa Pine, Plantation Pine (Elliotis Pine) and White Pine (Russian Red Pine). So why is it so important to offer all three? Because segmentation is necessary in order to present you with a choice of doors. No one else can offer the variety and selection Reeb® does. We have a good, better, best offering for you because we realize that the more choices we offer the better opportunity you have to make a sale.

Choose Ponderosa Pine for quality, breadth of design and specialty manufacturing. White Pine is the best choice for a very good quality door at a value price and Plantation Pine for a well made and durable pine at a competitive price. An assortment of choices for varied situations. Stained, clear coated or painted, we are sure you will find a pine door that meets your needs – and your price point.

All the doors in this catalog are stocked by Reeb and available with short lead times.

Ponderosa PineThis is the highest quality pine species. It offers the largest selection for specials, odd sizes and variety. You will also find Ponderosa Pine matches well with many other millwork products including pine windows and pine patio doors. Our Ponderosa Pine doors are manufactured by Rogue Valley. They use the highest grade Ponderosa Pine available and utilize as much vertical grain as possible. Unlike some manufacturers, Rogue Valley doors from Reeb® feature a solid pine panel. Solid panels show the detail of wood and are easier to finish. They also allow for unlimited design flexibility.

A beautiful clear coat on Ponderosa Pine will enhance its natural beauty while a stain will bring out the richness of the wood. This is the best of the pine products. We offer it in many designs, interior and exterior, odd heights and widths, specials and more.

Plantation PinePlantation Pine (Elliotis Pine) is a basic, well made door. It is often used in new home construction because of its abundant supply and economical price. It has distinct and more pronounced grain patterns. The graining makes it a more difficult product to evenly stain.Reeb® is a direct importer of this sustainable pine product and has a great commitment to this product line. Reeb® stocks an offering of Plantation Pine doors in both 6/8 and 8/0 sizes. We stock only vertical grain Plantation Pine which offers the most consistent appearance in grain, pattern and color.

Plantation Pine is a well constructed and durable door offered at a competitive price. For a full range of sizes, designs and custom capabilities, check our Ponderosa Pine door section.

MDF - What is it and why is it used?

MDF is an engineered wood product made from wood fibers mixed with resins. It offers excellent stability and durability and is a very good material for painted finishes. MDF can also be an economical answer for complex door designs.MDF doors allow you to create virtually any design that can be imagined and are available in a variety of options to create that one-of-a-kind look for any home. They may be manufactured using a variety of methods inc luding traditional stile and rail construction, solid MDF construction or by using a layered MDF construction. Irrespective of the method of manufacturing, there are many options to choose the right product for the job.

Stile and rail MDF doors are constructed using components made of MDF (medium density fiberboard) and assembled in a similar fashion as a standard wood interior door. A solid MDF door is made from a solid one-piece wood composite panel and offers virtually any design option you can imagine. Standard MDF doors manufactured using an automated CNC router offer a more limited number of designs and may be more competitively priced but do not have the architectural detail of the other methods of manufacturing.

Reeb recommends the use a more substantial 5/4” jamb material and ball bearing hinges to provide a more durable and better performing door unit. For jamb options see page 58-59. For hinge options see pages 64-65.

All MDF doors are special order and require an extended lead time. All other doors shown in this catalog are stocked and have a 1 week or less lead time.

Solid Jamb - made from a solid piece of wood and can be trimmed to custom jamb widths

Veneered Jamb - veneered is applied to a wood core. It provides a lower cost option for a stained finish. Width is fixed.

Primed finger-joint pine jambs are standard with all interior door units. They are used in most installations where the jambs are typically painted. Doors that are pre-hung in a primed frame may be painted or stained.

Veneered jambs offer a more economical option when the door and frame are of matching species and will be stained. A veneered fir jamb with a 4-9/16" width would typically be used with a fir door as shown in the photo above.

A 5/4” primed solid poplar jamb provides both strength and stability and should be used with doors of substantial weight such as MDF doors. Poplar is harder than pine, and will provide superior durability especially coupled with a heavy duty ball bearing hinge.

Solid jambs provide a stainable frame that can be trimmed for custom sized applications. This is typical in an older home where the door and frame are replaced within an existing opening.
