PURPOSE To combine a patients description of binocularphotopsia to the final visualisation of a focalvitreomacular traction by Spectral Domain OCT.
MethodsCase report of a 53 year old man who presented at our clinic with sudden onset of photopsia in both eyes.
Patients description of the symptoms in a drawing, SD-OCT
Right Eye Left Eye
Conclusion Spectral Domain is very precise and
helpful in the detection and follow-up of posterior vitreous detachment with vitreomacular traction. Our patients description corresponded very well with the actual findings in the OCT. We recommend to perform an OCT in every case of central photopsia and once a VMT is diagnosed to repeat the examination after one month to exclude the development of a macular hole.
