WHAT WE DOAnimals referred to the Internal Medicine Service often have a complex disease, multiple simultaneous illnesses or require specialized diagnostic testing. Our team is experienced in the management of challenging cases and is equipped with advanced diagnostic equipment and a team approach to therapy.

We always work to balance the multiple needs of a patient to improve quality of life. To ensure the best care possible, clinicians may consult with other services within the Wilford and Kate Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital. Our patients’ comfort and well-being are our priority.

HOW WE DO ITThe Internal Medicine Service has access to state-of-the-art equipment and techniques for diagnosis and treatment, including:

WHO WE AREThe Internal Medicine Service is composed of four faculty members who are board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Additionally, the service has four residents, a specialty intern and two veterinary technicians. Rotating interns and residents in other specialties may also be on the Internal Medicine Service at different times as part of their training.

The Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital is one of the nation’s leading medical facilities for animal health care, while also providing hands-on clinical education to senior-level students enrolled in the College of Veterinary Medicine. The 208,000-square-foot facility is one of the largest and most technologically-advanced teaching and referral hospitals in the country.

APPOINTMENTSAppointments can be made by referral from your primary care veterinarian. At the time of referral, they will be asked to provide copies of previous tests and reports. We also accept referrals directly from owners. All referrals to the Wilford and Kate Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital require appointments.
