Our Sentosa PVC shutters are extruded using a synthetic non toxic material and can be used in wet areas or throughout the home.

To reduce the weight of the product and to provide added stability in the absence of a grain, aluminium louvre inserts are used in all panels. Vertical stability is also provided with aluminium reinforcing in each side of the panel.

Even with the addition of aluminium for reinforcing, all PVC shutters will still exhibit some flex and may need a small ‘lift’ to assist them to close in the frame. The plus side is that this material holds up perfectly should a window be left open, with PVC also being the product most durable to knocks in the event of in home mishaps.

SETTING A NEW STANDARDMade using certified plantation grown paulownia, these shutters deliver the best qualities of both our Kimberley and Sentosa Shutters. Paulownia is a lightweight timber, allowing excellent panel spans, has superior joinery stability and less overall flex than Sentosa PVC Shutters. In its’ raw form Paulownia is water resistant and once painted moisture does not easily transfer through the material unlike other timber shutters. Overall, our Amalfi Shutters are suitable for almost any application in your home including window openings and, as they are far more tolerant to water and moisture will be far less susceptible to damage should the windows be accidentally left open.

Paulownia is sustainable and is recognised as the fastest growing tree in the world. It also generates up to four times more oxygen during periods of growth than any other tree so environmentally it also gets a big tick.

Insulation Properties: In our harsh climate, shutters with higher insulating properties can significantly reduce your heating and cooling bills.

Water Tolerance: Leaving windows open can be an issue for Internal Shutters. The higher the product rating the more tolerant it is to moisture.

Sag Resistance: Lighter weight timbers offer the best panel strength in their joinery. PVC materials (even with reinforcing) are much heavier and more flexible than Timber and are therefore more prone to sagging especially with wider panels. MDF (not sold by Boardwalk) is also heavy and more prone to sagging.

We value the environment and therefore ensure that all our timbers are sourced from sustainable plantations. This is certified by the worlds leading authority (FSC).

Paint Tested: The paints used on our products have been tested to comply with various industry standards to ensure they contain no hazardous chemicals. This gives you additional peace of mind when used in your home.

Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Testing: Our PVC is tested to ensure VOC compliance.

Fire Retardancy: Our PVC Shutters are tested to ensure they are fire retardant.

Pool Compliancy: Swimming pool compliance can be assessed for each of our nominated products. Compliance will depend on individual circumstances and the design option selected. We work to current Australian Standards.

Commercial Grade Aluminium: The materials used are selected to meet commercial requirements in terms of aluminium grade and wall thickness.

Wind Rated: We have tested all our products with a National Association of Testing Authorities Facility to ensure they can withstand severe winds even up to Cyclone Rated conditions (specifications apply).

Suitable for Coastal Installation: With the correct maintenance plan, these products can be used within a coastal environment.

Powder Coat to AS 4506-2005: Our coatings are benchmarked on this Australian Standard set to cover product finish, integrity, colour fastness and quality levels.
