ABOUT THE ASIA-PACIFIC FORUM FOR INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION AFIA provides practitioners, especially younger members, with a forum to discuss issues and developments in international arbitration, with a particular focus on Asia-Pacific. AFIA has over 600 members worldwide.

Since its inauguration in 2004, AFIA has held regular symposia in Asia-Pacific, where attendees participate in informal discussions and can ask questions and share knowledge based on their international arbitration experience. The discussions are led by an experienced panel and are based on topics suggested by members and circulated to attendees prior to the symposium. The topics range from current legal developments both in the region and further abroad, to practical hints on the conduct of international arbitration. We welcome attendees from all professional backgrounds, irrespective of their level of expertise or experience in the area of international arbitration.

AFIA provides an important opportunity for the forging of professional relationships amongst young practitioners in Asia-Pacific and globally. It also offers opportunities to its members to benefit from AFIA’s developing associations with similar organisations around the world.

Membership of AFIA is free. AFIA members receive notices of upcoming international arbitration events and are the first to be informed of AFIA symposia. Those interested in joining should visit AFIA’s website at <afia.asia> or contact Christopher de Waas, Secretary, at <[email protected]>.
