President’s Message
As you know, we live in an increasingly complex and potentially dan-
gerous world. Whether it is natural disasters, car accidents, fires or
medical emergencies, our communities rely on fire and emergency
service personnel to protect them. The International Association of
Fire Chiefs Foundation (IAFCF) is dedicated to supporting these first
responders through the administration of our scholarship program.
Each year the IAFCF provides scholarships to well deserving career and volunteer fire and
emergency service personnel who are enrolled in college coursework or other academic
programs that will help them further their fire service education. Unfortunately each year
the IAFC Foundation also has to turn down scholarship applications from other well de-
serving individuals due to a lack of available funds. You can help us change that - with
your financial support the IAFCF will be able to fund additional scholarships and make a
real difference in a first responder’s life.
During these challenging economic times, many departments across the country no long-
er offer tuition reimbursement which means many dedicated fire and emergency service
men and women have to cover 100% of their own education expenses or seek funding as-
sistance from other sources. Now more than ever, the financial support of an IAFC Founda-
tion scholarship may mean the difference between someone continuing with their studies
or putting them on hold for financial reasons.
The personal stories from past scholarship recipients included in this brochure clearly
demonstrate how an IAFC Foundation scholarship can help individuals reach their career
goals. By completing the donation form on the last page of this brochure you will help the
IAFC Foundation meet its goal of awarding scholarships to a larger number of fire and
emergency services personnel. Your generosity today will help improve the fire service of
tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Anthony P. Campisi

Foundation Board Member Bill Killen published his 2nd
book to
benefit the Foundation. The second edition of “Firefighting
With Henry’s Model T” is a major improvement of the 2008
edition and is twice the size of the first edition featuring hun-
dreds of color as well as black and white photographs of fire-
fighting apparatus built on the venerable Ford Model T chas-
sis.
The second edition features interesting stories of unique
brands such as the Hallock Chemical Engine, the history of
several fire departments where their first motorized fire appa-
ratus was a Model T Ford and Model T fire apparatus from Aus-
tralia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Finland.
