If you have any questions, please call (562) 590-3100, ext 0. Wyatt Workman is eight years old and is in second grade at The Wesley School in North Hollywood. He was inspired to help raise funds for the ocean after learning about trash in the ocean and other environmental problems. Wyatt worked throughout the summer of 2010 to create seventy art objects to sell at a fundraiser held last November for international ocean advocacy organization Oceana. He also made a six-minute claymation movie and book, both titled Save the Sea from the Trash Monster!, and designed a T-shirt that says, “I am NOT a Trash Monster!” The book was named “Book of the Month” by custom publisher A&I Books earlier this year. To date, Wyatt has raised $3,878 for Oceana. Wyatt’s projects encourage people to help save the ocean. His book and movie both include ocean facts and tangible ways to help. He also wrote a pledge for people to sign on his website and at events. The pledge includes promises to recycle plastic, pick up trash, select only sustainable seafood, and to use reusable shopping bags and water bottles. This summer, Wyatt is planning to begin work on a second claymation film and book project, this time about the rainforest.
