ABOUT ZAGREB

Zagreb is the capital and the largest city of the Republic of Croatia. It is located in the northwest of the country, along the Sava river, at the southern slopes of the Medvednica mountain.

The history of Zagreb dates as far back as 1094 A.D when the Hun-garian King Ladislaus, returning from his campaign against Croatia,

-ment Kaptol developed north of Zagreb Cathedral, as did the forti-

Upper Town (Gornji Grad) and is one of the best preserved urban nuclei in Croatia.

Zagreb’s numerous museums reflect the history, art and culture not only of Zagreb and Croatia, but also of Europe and the world. Around thirty collections in museums and galleries comprise more than 3.6 million various exhibits, excluding church and private collections.

TRIP TO ZADAR - A HISTORICAL CENTER OF DALMATIA

A trip to Zadar is planned on the July 24th, 2015 with organized trans-portation.

Situated in the heart of the Adriatic, Zadar is the urban center of north-ern Dalmatia as the administrative, economic, cultural and political center of the region.

The district of present day Zadar has been populated since prehistoric times. The earliest evidence of human life comes from the Late Stone Age. Zadar citizens started to work for the full independence of Zadar and from the 1030s the city was just formally a vassal of the Byzantine Empire. In the early 1990s Zadar became a part of the new Republic of Croatia.

The Greeting to the Sun is located in the port of Zadar, next to the Sea Organ. This is the place overlooking the city harbor, islands and the fa-mous Zadar sunset. The Greeting to the Sun uses solar power to create
