It is a consensus document drawing on regional and national guidelines already in practice around the world. It highlights the important features of a sound training and practice program, and is aimed at a complementary, diagnostic tool that can help make the clinician more efficient, more independent and more confident in their medical decision-making. The Global Emergency-Medicine Meeting (GEM) 2014, Shenzhen, China is the first international program organized by the AED, HKU-SZH. It aims to bring new ideas to Emergency Medicine, Emergency Nursing and pre-hospital care to China. The registration and Free Paper application of the Global Emergency Medicine Meeting 2014, Shenzhen is now open. The conference will take place from 16th June 2014 to 18th June 2014. For details, please visit http://www.gemhkuszh.com. The Global Emergency-Medicine Meeting (GEM) is organized by the Accident and Emergency Department (AED) of HKU-SZH. The AED began operations on 15th May 2013 with partial service, which was extended to 24 hours on 23rd October 2013. The AED is headed by Dr. Gary Chu, Fellow of Emergency Medicine of the Hong Kong College of Emergency Medicine, and Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (EM). He is the BLS and ACLS faculty member of the American Heart Association, and various international courses and conferences. Under his leadership, all doctors and nurses of the AED, HKU-SZH are trained according to the Hong Kong standard and overseas trainings and visits are conducted regularly. The Hong Kong AED Triage System is utilized. Patients are prioritized according to clinical needs.

March 12th-15th, 2014Conference sessions will focus on or-ganizational and managerial topics of ED, on selected clinical aspects of sep-sis, cardiovascular emergencies, neu-rologic emergencies, pediatric emer-gencies, multitrauma and hyperbaric oxygenation in EM practice. As usual, some sessions will focus on administrative issues, financing, and legal responsibilities in emergency medicine. Joint support for the sessions will be provided by a large number of world-renowned speakers. Symposium attendees from Poland and from countries with a reciprocity agree-ment will receive educational credit. List of the associated courses and workshops includes:

Because our parallel scientif-ic sessions will cover topics for emergency nurses and paramedics, we strongly encourage those profes-sionals to participate.

Special workshops agenda for emer-gency nurses and paramedics in-cludes, but is not limited to:
