PROLOGUE programme

SCREENINGS

The objective of this forum is linking all the variables that contribute to the creation of new audiences. In order to debate this, the forum will bring together experts from several countries and from the academic, professional and creative fields. The focus, in this case, is the concept of small nations as communicative spaces, the cinema in original version and other situations in which the language, despite not being minoritarian, is minoritised. The event also addresses diversity policies not only as recognition but also as concrete actions that guarantee the expression and circulation of films.

The Forum is part of the R+D project 'Towards the European Digital Space. The role of small cinemas in original version" (Ref. CSO2012-35784. Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness) developed by the Audiovisual Studies Research Group in the framework of the National Plan of R+D+i of the Spanish Government and under the direction of Prof. Margarita Ledo Andión.

CINEMA BEYOND BOUNDARIESCollectivity policies

“Read the Masks. Tradition is not given” (Petra Bauer and Annette Krauss. 2009. 80’)The film is part of an ongoing project of the same title which questions the Dutch tradition of Zwarte Piet (Black Pete) in the light of its social and political implications.

“Subtramas” (Virginia Villaplana, Diego del Pozo y Montse Romaní. 2014. 70’)Documentary video-essay reflecting on a set of practical-theoretical experiments that explore the collaborative approach to the creation of audiovisual narratives. Three open-ended lines of inquiry are combined in the film: the construction of new imaginaries, experiments on participatory reception, and a pedagogy of collective images.

“Negra Blanca” (Imma Benavente, Helena de Llanos, Miguel A. Rodriguez, Elsa Barreras, Irene Núfar, Ángel Monpeán, y Nacho Valero. 2013. 90’)Collective film between reality and fiction of people who likes stories. How far are we willing to believe?

“Persoas”(IES Cacherias-Teo. 2013. 15’.)Short on migration and equality between people. International issues such as poverty, gender discrimination, war and lack of freedom of expression. The piece is the result of the media literacy project "Aturuxo Filmes", that IES Cacheiras Teo has been developing for nine years. The session will be preceded by exposure of the project from its creators.

“Massó no recordo” (CEIP A Rúa Cangas. 2013. 20’.)Documentary work on the memory of a place and the imprint it makes on people who lived there. The film project is the result of the media literacy project "Cineando Illusions" that CEIP A Rúa de Cangas has developed in collaboration with the Centro Galego de Artes da Imaxe (CGAI) as part of the activity "Cinema en curso" The session will be preceded by exposure of the project from its creators.
