Intern in ThailandRole: Health at a Government Clinic

Students will work with primary care health clinics in Thailand. Tasks include working in the local community with volunteers to educate, prevent, and mitigate various diseases. Additional responsibilities may include checking blood pressure and blood sugar levels to prevent heart disease and strokes in patients, and educating on the prevention of dengue fever, vaccinations, and other public health campaigns.

Intern in EcuadorRole: Nutrition Education at Children’s Healthy Living Class

Interns assist with leading a weekly healthy living class to children who visit the organization. Topics taught include preventative health, such as good hand washing and oral hygiene, and nutrition with a healthy snacking class.

Intern in South AfricaRole: Occupational Therapy at a Rehabilitative Center

Interns will directly assist South African health care professionals with client-centered assessments, activity analysis, home, school and job site evaluation, promoting wellness, patient write-ups, and long term patient goal setting. Students with a strong theoretical understanding of human anatomy/physiology, developmental psychology or prior experience working in rehabilitative settings should consider an occupational therapy internship in Cape Town.
