Why Attend the ILCA Conference?The ILCA Annual Conference is the premier lactation education and professional development event of the year. The Conference provides a rich learning environment for lactation professionals, midwives, child and family health nurses, general practitioners, physicians, dieticians and nutritionists, breastfeeding counsellors, researchers, pharmacists, nurses, doulas, policy makers and other advocates who assist mothers and babies with breastfeeding. It offers information on cutting-edge evidence-based practice and research in optimal breastfeeding care and support for mothers and babies.

About ILCAThe International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) is the professional association for the IBCLC® and other health care professionals who care for breastfeeding families. ILCA mem-bership is open to all who support and promote our vision and mission. You can join at any time and do not need to be an IBCLC® to become a member.

Contact Hours/Education CreditsAll continuing education credits are based on a 60-minute unit.

ILCA is an approved provider of Continuing Education Recognition Points (CERPs) with the International Board of Lactation Consul-tant Examiners® (Approval Number CLT-108-7). The Conference is approved for 22 CERPs.

ILCA is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. The Conference is approved for 22 contact hours.

The Conference is endorsed by the Australian College of Midwives and is approved for 22 MidPLUS Points.

Conference RegistrationYou may register for the Conference in either Australian or US dollars. Payment by credit card is in US dollars; you are responsible for any foreign exchange fees from other currencies. Payment in Australian dollars can be made through direct electronic deposit when registering online. Payment by check/cheque must be drawn on a US or Australian bank and accompanied by the printed registration form. IBLCE® Exam in Melbourne Those who plan to attend the conference may also take the certification exam in Melbourne. The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners is the independent international certification body conferring the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant® (IBCLC®) credential. The certification examination will be available through Computer Based Testing (CBT) in Melbourne during the week after the ILCA conference. Appointments for CBT centres will be available over a period of 3 days. Contact IBLCE at www.iblce.org for details.

ILCA’s 2013 Annual Conference is being held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre (MCEC) in Melbourne, Australia. The MCEC is Australia’s most versatile convention and exhibition centre. Parking Fees If you plan to drive to the Conference, please note the established parking fees for both the convention centre and hotel properties. Fees are subject to change without notice. Passport & Visa All travellers to Australia require a valid entry visa prior to travel to Australia. There are a number of options, including the Tourist Visa, Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) and eVisitor. You can apply for ETA and eVisitor online or through your airline or travel agent. Cancellation and Refund PolicyAll refund requests must be submitted in writing and postmarked no later than 1 June 2013, for a full refund, less an AUD$75/US$80 processing fee. Cancellations postmarked between 2 June and 1 July 2013 will be eligible to receive a 50% refund. All refunds will be made after the completion of the Conference. No refunds will be given for cancellations made after 1 July 2013 unless special circumstances apply.

Substitution Policy: Delegates may send a substitute in their place in lieu of requesting a refund upon prior notification to ILCA.

Special Circumstances: Refunds may be granted, at the sole discretion of ILCA, if a delegate is unable to attend the Conference due to a family death, illness, or other extraordinary circum-stance. ILCA must be notified immediately by phone, letter or e-mail. ILCA will refund fees (minus the processing fee) as soon as possible and no later than four (4) weeks after the Conference has concluded. ILCA retains the right to request a death certificate, doctor’s note or other information as it pertains to the decision.

ILCA is not responsible for events beyond our control such as weather conditions, flight cancellations, venue property condi-tions, prepaid parking, prepaid tours, etc. No refunds will be given in these situations.

Families and BabiesILCA is committed to an environment conducive to learning for all Conference delegates. Quiet infants-in-arms and non-separating children are welcome. As a courtesy to other participants, and to avoid being asked out of a session room, please attend to your child’s noise or fussiness promptly. In order to fully participate in the educational sessions, some mothers find it easier to bring a support person to the Conference to provide care for their children outside the meeting room. A Mother Baby Room with re-frigerator and comfortable seating will provide privacy to express and store milk (bring your own pump).

Conference Volunteers - Be Involved!ILCA’s Annual Conference is an exciting opportunity to be involved in your professional association. Numerous volunteers are need-ed for varying periods of time during the Conference to assist with registration, introduce speakers, monitor session rooms, and help at the ILCA Store. Take this opportunity to fully participate in the Conference and contribute to ILCA’s success while forming new friendships. Family members are welcome to volunteer as well! Volunteers will be contacted by email and are asked to at-tend an orientation session. Please be sure to make this selection during your registration if you are interested in volunteering.
