WHYBIRMINGHAM, UKTHERE ARE MANY POSSIBLE STUDY LOCATIONS IN THE UK – BUT WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE BIRMINGHAM AS YOUR DESTINATION?

THE UK’S SECOND CITY Birmingham is the UK’s second city and the youngest major city in Europe, with under 25s accounting for nearly 40% of its population, so it’s the ultimate destination for students!

CENTRE OF THE UK Birmingham is ideally located in the centre of the UK, meaning you can make the most of your time here by exploring the rest of the country easily by rail – and the rest of the world, from Birmingham’s international airport!

VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY By choosing Birmingham as your UK study destination, you can be sure of securing value for your money: rent prices in Birmingham are over 50% cheaper than in London.

HIGH QUALITY OF LIFE Birmingham offers the highest quality of life of any UK city outside London – ahead of international hotspots such as Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Rome and Dubai!

MULTICULTURAL VIBE Birmingham’s multicultural vibe is reflected in its diverse range of restaurants: it’s the home of the Balti (a spicy South Asian dish), and Chinatown offers oriental cuisines from Cantonese and Japanese to Korean and Malaysian. Wherever you’re from, you’re sure to feel at home here.

Selfridges, City Centre

SYED, FROM PAKISTAN“You’ve got access to all big cities within just a few hours, like Manchester or London, so it’s a good combination of all cities. The University is located in the heart of Birmingham, so having the city-centre lifestyle with the hustle-bustle, it gives you a lot of exposure. I’ve loved my time over here – I’m enjoying every bit of it!”

BIRMINGHAM CITY UNIVERSITY (BCU) IS A MODERN INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY – WITH STAFF, STUDENTS AND ALUMNI FROM MORE THAN 100 COUNTRIES. BUT WHAT ELSE DOES IT HAVE TO OFFER?

LIVELY LOCATIONThe main Birmingham City University campus is based in the vibrant city centre – walking distance from national rail travel at New Street Station and attractions including the Bullring, one of Europe’s largest shopping centres.

HIGH EMPLOYMENT RATEBirmingham City University is ranked 7th in the UK for employability, and 97% of students are in employment or further study within six months of graduating*. Getting you ready for the working world is one of the University’s main priorities – and this is reflected in the availability of work placement opportunities, an employability awards scheme (Graduate+), an on-campus employment agency and even careers support up to three years after graduating.

INDUSTRY-STANDARD FACILITIESBirmingham City University has invested £340 million in its campus and facilities, ensuring you experience a learning environment that best mirrors your chosen industry.

• Simulated Magistrates and Crown Courts (School of Law)

• Four TV studios, six radio studios and one of the UK’s largest permanent green screens (Birmingham School of Media)

• CITY trading room with the same investment analysis software as traders and financial analysts (Birmingham City Business School)

• The Link, a student-run marketing agency (Birmingham City Business School)

• Cisco Network Labs with specialist areas for forensic and ethical hacking technologies (School of Computing)

ANTHONY, FROM VIETNAM“The facilities at BCU are absolutely amazing and the campus’ location is right in the city centre, which was very convenient for me. The library is open almost 24/7 so I could stay late for assignments and all the lessons were very practical. If I didn’t understand something, I could meet the tutor at their office and they would explain very carefully.”

PROFESSIONAL COURSESAround 50 of the University’s courses are accredited by respected professional bodies, including:

• Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

• Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA)• Landscape Institute (LI)• Royal Institution of Chartered

Surveyors (RICS)• Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)• Chartered Management Institute (CMI)• Institution of Engineering and

Technology (IET)• British Psychological Society (BPS)

HASSAN, FROM EGYPT“At BCUIC I really enjoyed the care from the teachers and from Student Services. I enjoyed the process where we went through how the learning is different from school to university. BCUIC explained everything for us slowly and repeated that process a couple of times over the semesters.”

WHAT’S SPECIAL ABOUT BCUIC?

FOODWith over 800 restaurants and cafés

in the city alone, covering over 25 global cuisines, you won’t be short

of choices on your next meal!

MUSTAFA, FROM SUDAN“One of the reasons I chose BCU was because the

campus is inside the city centre – it fits my style. I didn’t want to have to travel 30 minutes to the city-centre to do things, so it was a really big advantage for me. Everything

is close by: there’s the library, all the facilities, and you can go out with friends to a bar or pub.”

SPORTOur region is home to a number of major football clubs that host regular matches with other Premier League teams. And did you know that the world’s first ever

football league was created in Birmingham?
