WELCOME MESSAGESINPSC 2019 ENCSI
Dear Industry Colleagues,
The Concept of Process Safety took shape only after humanity witnessed the world's worst industrial disaster i.e. the Bhopal Gas Tragedy. An estimated 20000 people were killed; half a million injured & millions of descendants suffered, before process safety took center stage and evolved over the years to become the mainstay of plant and asset reliability today.
The potential seriousness of major accidents in the domain of process safety even more than in others & the industry's continued tryst with unfortunate events have repeatedly demonstrated that the regulations governing hazardous industrial activities are insufficient in themselves to prevent major accidents.
Today, the management of process safety needs to be at the heart of companies' progress-oriented approach. Given that the past performance is no guarantee of future returns, safety leadership, Innovative engineering & operational excellence would have to be the strategic board level priorties for companies to survive and ultimately thrive. “Culture, Competency & Excellence” of organisations are thus the key determinants of performance in this field.
2019 may have ring in the New Year with newer set of challenges including increased globalized workforce and supply chains, heightened competition for natural resources, raging public concerns over social and environmental impacts, rapidly changing technology and increased government and regulatory interventions. What would be the state of safety in the midst of all these demands?
As the flagship multidisciplinary national industry forum on process safety, The International Process Safety Conference 2019, themed “Culture, Competency & Excellence” brings together over 150 stakeholders including policy makers, asset owners, EPC contractors, technology licensors, service providers, equipments manufacturers, consultants & others to build consensus on the actions needed to move forward, defining clear areas of collaboration including global process industry standards, best practices, innovations, research, technologies & safety management tools.
I would like to convey our special thanks to our esteemed speakers, panelists, Moderators & Session Chairs for joining us at the conference.
My best wishes to all the participants for a very interactive, successful & meaningful conference.
Thank you for your participation.

WELCOME MESSAGESINPSC 2019
Dear Industry Colleagues,
Chapter 16 couplet 23 of Gita states “Those who act discarding the injunctions of the scriptures (manuals), attain neither perfection, nor their goal.” Over the last four decades, the world has witnessed some of the worst industrial disasters spanning across industries. In addition to loss of precious human lives, these disasters cause humongous damage to industrial assets. What have been the reasons for these disasters? Discarding the injunctions of Process Safety. Could these have been avoided? Well, yes, by following the tenets of the safety manuals.
Over the years, Process Safety has taken centre stage in prevention of incidents, provided, it is supported by the Culture, Competency and Character of the organization. Organisations that have implemented a well-defined Process Safety Culture are doing excellently well in preventing the loss of their assets, people, plants and the environment. Whilst today, industry and infrastructure development has attained greater pace with projects being completed ahead of schedule, heightened competition for natural resources, raging public concerns over social and environmental impacts and increased regulatory interventions add risks to the business. Safety leadership, innovative engineering & operational excellence need to be strategic board level priorities for companies to survive & thrive.
To effectively manage these emerging risks and intensifying awareness about the importance of process safety, ENCIS launched the first of its kind International Process Safety Conference (INPSC) in 2017. This conference filled the void in Indian Process Safety education and awareness. With its global participation, sharing of experience and knowledge, it was highly appreciated by the industry across the board.
rdThe 3 International Process Safety Conference (INPSC 2019) outlines ENCIS's commitment to continue working with governments, regulators, industry, consultants and subject experts in addressing the safety challenges in achieving everyone' cherished goal of ZERO ACCIDENT.
rdShowcasing over 40 prolific speakers & nearly 150 industry delegates, the success of the 3 edition of INPSC has been a reflection of the immense support of Conference Advisory Committee Chairman, Shri. A.K. Dwivedi, Director (Exploration), ONGC Limited, Shri. T.K. Sengupta, Director (E&P) FIPI & the Conference Advisory Committee Members; without their outstanding contribution, guidance & support this conference would not have been possible.
We are honored & thankful to INPSC 2019 Partners, ONGC Ltd, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, GAIL (India) Ltd, Engineers India Ltd & Sparow Risk among many others for their kind support to this conference, their benefaction is a testimonial of the exceptional value that INPSC offers both as a technical conference & a networking forum.
I convey my best wishes to all the participants including the Speakers, Delegates, Exhibitors & hope that you will find the conference both enjoyable and valuable whilst also enjoying the architectural & cultural beauty of New Delhi.
