When a brand has been acclaimed by farmers and contractors for over 80 years, then it must be something special. Even at the very start of mass production of diesel tractors in 1927, DEUTZ-FAHR was one of the first manufacturers in the world to recognize that mechanization of agriculture was the only way to increase farmers’ productivity and could therefore make a major contribution to raising the general standard of living in society. All technical developments have always been geared to-wards the requirements of farmers. With simple and rugged machines DEUTZ-FAHR delivered precisely the technology to make the work in the field both easier and more comfortable. It was the invention of the “farmer’s tractor”, for instance – the DEUTZ 11 series – that helped the mechanization of agriculture really finally really take off in 1936. And this has been followed ever since by a constant flow of new trend-setting concepts such as the introduction of air-cooled engines (1950), the first controlled hydraulics (1958), the Intrac concept (1972), the free vision concept (1990), the spacious panoramic cab (1995) and front axle suspension (1996). In this connection the principle has always been that “if it helps the farmer, then it is good”. The fact that well over 320,000 tractors are currently still in use provides impressive testimony of DEUTZ-FAHR’s reliability and closeness to its customers.

mILEsTONEs IN TRACTOR PRODUCTION1927 Serial production of DEUTZ tractors starts.

1933 F2M 315. First DEUTZ tractor with 5-gear transmission, PTO drive and block design (28 hp).

1936 F1M 414. The breakthrough for the motorization of small-scale ag-ricultural operations came with the DEUTZ 11 series, the typical “farmer‘s tractor” F1M 414.

late 50s D series. The launch of the D25 saw the new FL712 generation of engines, with power ranging from 13 to 52 hp, also Introduced to the range of DEUTZ-FAHR tractors.

1965 D-05. Four-wheel drive was offered for the first time for the D 6005 to D 9005 in the four- to six-cylinder class.

1968 D-06. First deliveries of the D-06 series.

1972 InTrac. The unusual tractor concept with three mounting areas, front cab, sliding doors, front powerlift and front PTO attracted tremend-ous interest.

1978 DX. With the DX series, DEUTZ-FAHR brought out a generation of tractors with a completely new design concept, featuring new en-gines, a fully-synchronized transmission with closed-circuit pressure lubrication and four-wheel drive as standard. Five-cylinder diesel engi-nes were also used for the first time.

1990 AgroXtra. With the AgroXtra, DEUTZ-FAHR was the first manufac-turer to offer the first genuine open-view tractor.

2000 Agrotron MK3. With its still revolutionary spacious cab concept DEUTZ-FAHR offers a series of tractors which set the standard in terms of hydraulic power, cab design and user-friendliness with power ranging from 80 to 260 hp.

2001 Agrotron TTV. The new AGROTRON TTV, launched in 2001, repre-sented a new generation of tractors from DEUTZ-FAHR with infinitely variable gearbox and a completely new control concept.

2009 AgroXXL. At Agritechnica 2009 DEUTZ-FAHR presented the AgroXXL - the first 8wheel drive tractor in the world with 600hp.

2010 Agrofarm TTV. With its new compact continuously variable transmisson the Agrofarm TTV offers comfortable productivity in the 100 hp class.

Leading engine technologyDEUTZ-FAHR’s engine strategy is clear and unambiguous – they have to be economical and reliable. DEUTZ-FAHR is one of the few manu facturers to still manufacture its own engines and, thanks to its holding in leading engine manufacturer DEUTZ AG, it also has

access to modern and economical engine technology. Milestones such as electronic engine control, high-pressure injection and the Common-Rail system were largely DEUTZ developments. In sum-mary, maximum power and torque for minimum fuel consumption.

The right transmission technology for every applicationThe customer has the choice. DEUTZ-FAHR has the right transmis-sion for every tractor and application, be it synchro transmission, Eco-Speed transmission, Powershift transmission with 3 and 4 Pow-ershift stages, Powershift transmission with APS (Automatic Pow-ershift) or infinitely variable TTV transmission. DEUTZ-FAHR is one

of just a few manufacturers to offer transmissions with electroni-cally programmable top speeds (depending on the model). And fuel consumption was also taken into account here as well, with the top speed for most models being achieved with a reduced engine speed.

Savings four times overFrom as low as the 90 hp models, DEUTZ-FAHR tractors come with four PTO speeds. This is because on top of the 540 / 1,000, the Agro-tron models are equipped with the 540 E and 1,000 E economy PTOs as standard. Their low engine speeds reduce fuel consumption, engine load and noise disturbance for both driver and environment. Thanks to

a well-coordinated transmission the working range of the PTO is within the most favourable consumption range and – as a result of the engine characteristics – offers extremely high power and torque levels at the same time. This means a lot of power even for the economy PTO as well.

Maximum hydraulic capacityIt is reassuring to know that all DEUTZ-FAHR tractors come with high-performance hydraulic systems. Because farmers always want to be able to use implements which match the performance of their tractor.
