International Projects – Mechanisms for Support

• Investigator Initiated (regular application to Genome Canada with an international

partner)

• Bilateral Competition (e.g., Genome Canada/Geñoma Espana)

• Community Led (e.g., Bovine project)

• International Consortium Initiative (e.g., SGC)

UK 25 %

Japan 25 %

China 10%

Canada 10 %The HapMap will describe patterns of DNA sequence variation. It will be a key resource to find genes and responses to drugs.

International Consortium Initiative

• Designed for unique international projects with potential for significant impact on Canadian science

• Project must be led by a Canadian researcher and request a minimum of $50 million over 3 years

• Genome Canada will pay up to 25% of total costs

• Workshop funds available to help develop consortia

• One proposal and five workshops have been approved to date
