Abundant deep blue oceans, white sandy beaches, rich rainforests, scenic mountains, of small and big islands configure our living environments.They compose a grandiose tapestry of what we call 'benua maritim'. Unfortunately, despite the generous natural resources, our country is too prone to so many natural and man made disasters are the cases of other archipelagos particularly along the Pacific Rim. Our ancestors created and invented wisdom in the making of living places and built-environments so that they withstood such situation. Now is our timely turn to create and invent our own wisdom. We should seek for advantageous chances and face the challenges in the design and planning of architecture in urbanised maritime culture. In this regards, scientific and technological advancements should inevitably be hand in hand with social, economic, aesthetic, and cultural sophistication, in order to pursue sustainable built environments of the future. In the series of events for the 50th Anniversary the Department of Architecture Faculty of Engineering Hasanuddin University will hold an 'International Seminar on Architecture in Urbanised Maritime Culture' and The 3rd International Conference on Environment, Engineering, Economics, Safety, and Health (CONVEEESH). We would like to invite papers and posters from academicians, researchers, practitioners, and students interested in architecture and urban planning, design, and engineering, also related field of studies. Let us disseminate inspiring ideas and exchange critical views on chances and challenges in design and planning for the sustainable future of architecture in urbanised maritime culture, from theoretical, philosophical, practical, empirical, and educational perspectives. years Department of Architecture
