An essential partner for business success in Papua New Guinea

With over 20 years’ experience managing medical and security risks across PNG, we know what it takes to succeed here.

Business in PNG With its resource-rich land, tourism opportunities and humanitarian development community, PNG continues to be an attractive destination for international companies and organisations. Operating a business in PNG can be extremely rewarding – and equally challenging. The country’s vast landscape, cultural diversity and complex business environment pose unique challenges for employers and anyone visiting or living and working in PNG. The Healthcare Challenge PNG is a high risk destination in both medical and security contexts, which can make it difficult for companies to fulfil their duty of care to employees. Between variable local medical services and an unstable security environment and its remote location, employers cannot afford to take any chances when it comes to the health and wellbeing of staff and their families or visiting personnel.

International SOS in PNG International SOS has been operating in PNG since 1994, providing medical and security services for corporate and energy, mining and infrastructure companies, NGOs, corporate companies and government agencies. Our extensive on-the-ground services include two medical clinics in Port Moresby with primary and emergency medical care services; medical evacuations via dedicated air ambulances; accredited first aid training courses; remote site medical services; public and community health programmes, malaria and other disease control programmes and access to helicopters, executive jets and wide-bodied aircraft. Our emergency assistance services, clinics, on-the-ground medical services, and managed health care solutions are linked in with our global capabilities to deliver leading solutions for organisations operating in PNG and its surrounds. We are the most trusted provider of medical evacuations in the region and no other medical assistance company has comparable resources in the country.

International SOS in PNG Leading the way in medical and security assistance services.

PNG’s unique culture and landscape, coupled with developing infrastructure and geographical isolation, demands extra consideration of how to keep your people safe and well. Since 1994 International SOS has led medical and security assistance in PNG, partnering with clients to create tailored onsite services and programs that meet international standards and suit changing needs. We have more than 400 medical, security and operational staff on the ground in PNG, 86 per cent of whom are PNG nationals. International SOS has helped to shape the local healthcare landscape, offering its members international-standard medical care and assistance in what can be an uncertain and volatile environment. Through on-the-ground local experience and knowledge, International SOS understands the medical and security challenges facing organisations in their day-to-day operations throughout PNG. In addition to our own resources, we maintain a network of more than 75 credentialed providers in PNG including medical facilities, security professionals, travel and logistics providers. This complements our resources on the ground to ensure we can quickly coordinate assistance services for our members.
