INVITATIONThis symposium is the forth in a series the first of which was held in Lanzhou, China, in 1996 with the title of International Symposium on High-Tech Polymers and Polymeric Complexes (HPPC). Based on the success of the HPPC series (HPPC-II held in Zhenzhou in 1999, and HPPC-III in Lanzhou in 2004), the participants strongly suggested to organize a successive symposium two years later. This symposium will make some change in topics and be concerned with all aspects of High-Tech Polymer Materials (HTPM). These polymer materials have unique combination of chemical, physical, mechanical and opto-electric, as well as biomedical, biocompatible, and biodegradable properties, making them highly attractive for applications in such diverse areas as the aerospace/aviation, opto-electrical, as well as biomedical and biomaterial industries. This symposium is organized to bring together scientists and technologists interested in all aspects of high-tech polymer materials, to review and assess the current state of knowledge, to provide a forum for exchange and cross-fertilization of ideas, and to define problem areas which need intensified efforts.

Fragrant Hill is in the suburbs of Beijing, about 20 miles away from The Tiananmen Square. Beijing, the most famous city in China, has many places of historic interest and scenic beauty such as The Great Wall, The Forbidden City, The Tiananmen Square and The Temple of Heaven, etc. You will experience an interesting mixture of modern civilization and historical environment in your short stay.

The organizing committee warmly welcomes all of you, polymer scientists, engineers and students being involving in polymer synthesis, physics, processing and materials, to attend this symposium, and believe that your participation will be a great contribution to the HTPM-IV.
