International Women’s Day• Celebrates the social, political and economic
advancements of women while focusing attention on areas requiring action
• Proposed by Clara Zetkin
• First honored in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland on March 19th
• Changed to March 8th in 1975
• In some countries, regarded as the same as Mother’s Day
This year’s theme encourages advocacy for women's
advancement everywhere in every way. It calls for
challenging the status quo for women's equality and vigilance
inspiring positive change.
