. The Internet is a large group of computers that are connected with each other for communication purpose. 

. The Internet is used to send information quickly between computers around the whole world.

. It has millions of educational and government websites, which together carry many different kinds of networks.

. So in other words, the Internet is a network of networks or we can also call it as web.

What is internet?

Powerful search engine.

The internet provides the ability of e-mails and that to free mail service to anyone in the world.

Platform for products like skype which allows for holding a video conference across anywhere in the world.News of all kinds are available almost instantaneously.

There are multiple search engines that made it easier for users to find information on almost all sorts of issues.

Downloading movies ,videos, music etc very easily and quickly.

It is useful for online-shopping, online-magazines, and online-games etc.

Advantages:

Disadvantages:

1. There is a lot of wrong information on the internet. Anyone can post anything and much of it is garbage.

2. Internet has a lot of cheater sites.

3. Hackers can use the internet for identity theft.

4. Hackers can create viruses that can get into your personal computer and destroy your data.

5. Easy to waste a lot of time on the internet.

6. There are predators that hang out on the internet waiting to get unsuspecting people in dangerous situation.

1. Communication:- Internet is used to communicate with the people far from us with extreme ease.

2. Research:- In order to do research we have to go through hundreds of books & references but through internet everything is available on a click.

3. Education:- There are number of books, online help centers, expert’s views that can make the learning process very easier.

4. Financial transaction:- With the help of internet you can complete your transactions very easily and that too with standing in any type of queue in any bank.

5. Real time updates:- There are various websites on the internet which provides you with the real time updates in every field that may be business, politics, entertainment, finance etc.

6. Online-shopping:- In today’s busy life most of us are interested to shop online. Now-a-days almost anything can be bought with the help of internet.

7. Job search:- Internet makes life easy for both employers & job seekers as there are plenty of job sites which connect employers and job seekers.

Application Of InternetWeb-Browser:

A web-browser is a software application for retrieving, presenting & traversing information on the web.

An information resource is identified by a URL may be a web page, images,video or any other content.

URL:

URL is a reference to a resource that specifies the location of the resource on a computer network & a mechanism for retrieving it.

A URL is a specific type of Uniform Resource Locator .

Example:- http://www.songs.com Here http is a protocol, www.songs is a domain name, .com is a specifier.

Application Of InternetSEARCH ENGINES A search engine is a software system that

is designed to search for informing on the world wide web.

Search engines are programs that search documents for specified keywords and returns a list of the documents where the keywords are found.

The information may be a mix of web pages, images, and other types of files.
