OurGrid

• Is a free-to-join peer-to-peer grid– Each site represents a peer in the system– There is no paperwork to join it– Targeted to small labs and research groups

• Is in production since December 2004– Approximately 300 machines spread around 20 sites

• Is open source (GPL) and is available at www.ourgrid.org

• Was developed at Universidade Federal de Campina Grande (Brazil) in colaboration with HP Brazil R&D

Status Report

• 1st Interoperability Meeting – 31/08 and 01/09

• Already have architectural proposals to enable:– Using OurGrid-managed resources to execute jobs

submitted to EELA Forward the jobs to an OurGrid broker Execute the jobs using resources (shared or not) managed

by an OurGrid peer Extends gLite to support Opportunistic Computing

– Using EELA resources to execute jobs submitted to OurGrid Restricted to users already authorized to use EELA

resources

Next Steps

• EELA– Implementation of a proof of concept prototype to

execute gLite jobs using OurGrid-managed resources 4 months (one person, 20% dedication)

• OurGrid– Elaboration and submission of a funding proposal to

contract human resources to implement the solution Deadline: 18 September
