Supported Multipoint and Network Multipoint Meeting Interoperability Environments
These interoperability environments are supported:
• Multipoint Meetings Using CTMS, page 2-2
• Network Multipoint Meetings Using CTMS, page 2-5
• Multipoint Meetings Using Cisco TelePresence Server, page 2-9
Note In a CTMS multipoint or network multipoint meeting with Cisco TelePresence endpoints running TC release 5.x, CTS 1.8.0 is the minimum required endpoint version. CTS 1.7.x and older endpoints are not supported in this CTMS interoperability scenario and must be upgraded to CTS 1.8.x or later.

CTMS Support of Endpoint Interoperability in Multipoint and Network Multipoint Meetings
Figure 2-7 displays the Manage > Default Meeting Settings page, which includes Supported Endpoint Types.
Figure 2-7 Manage > Default Settings Page
With Supported Endpoint Types, you can control the endpoint types that are supported in Cisco TelePresence multipoint and network multipoint meetings managed by a particular CTMS. With the default setting of “CTS endpoints only,” these endpoints are supported:
• CTS 1.7.x, 1.8.x, and later endpoints
To configure the CTMS to support interop meetings, you must select “Cisco TelePresence TC 5.0 (and later) and CTS 1.8 (and later) endpoints,” which in turn supports the following endpoints or devices:
• Cisco TelePresence endpoints running TC software version 5.x (and later)
• CTS 1.8.x and later endpoints
• Cisco Unified IP phone 9900 Series (video conferencing-capable)
• Audio-only devices
Note To interoperate with Cisco TelePresence TC 5.0 (and later) endpoints in CTMS multipoint and network multipoint meetings, CTS 1.8.0 is the minimum required endpoint version. CTS 1.7.x and older endpoints are not supported in this scenario and must be upgraded to CTS 1.8.x or later.
While interoperating with Cisco TelePresence TC 5.0 (and later) endpoints in multipoint and network multipoint meetings, all supported endpoint types have full audio and video capabilities, if applicable.
For information about the impact of changing the setting as well as what happens when multiple CTMS devices have different settings, see the Cisco TelePresence Multipoint Switch Release 1.9 Administration Guide, which you can access at this location:

Chapter 2 Interoperability in Cisco TelePresence Multipoint and Network Multipoint Meetings Required Configurations
Required ConfigurationsThis section describes a required configuration to ensure that supported endpoints interoperate as expected:
• Configuration For Cisco TelePresence TC 5.0 (and Later) Endpoints Registered With VCS Control X6.1 or X7.0, page 2-12
Configuration For Cisco TelePresence TC 5.0 (and Later) Endpoints Registered With VCS Control X6.1 or X7.0
When setting up Cisco TelePresence TC 5.0 (and later) endpoints that are registered with VCS Control, we require the following configuration:
• SIP protocol—CTMS supports Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) only as the call signalling protocol. It does not support H.323.
What To Expect During Multipoint and Network Multipoint Meetings
The section describes expected behavior during Cisco TelePresence 1.9.x multipoint and network multipoint meetings:
• Security, page 2-12
• HD Video Quality, page 2-12
SecurityCisco TelePresence TC 5.0 (and later) endpoints can be configured as secure or non-secure. However, when the TC 5.0 (and later) endpoints are registered with VCS Control, CTMS release 1.8.x and later does not support secure calls with these endpoints and will downgrade their security level to non-secure when they join a multipoint or network multipoint meeting.
HD Video QualityTable 2-10 outlines the endpoints that can be present in CTMS multipoint meetings and the resulting video quality for each endpoint type.
Note The information in Table 2-10 is based on the CTMS having the Supported Endpoints Types setting of “Cisco TelePresence TC 5.0 (and later) and CTS 1.8 (and later) endpoints.” For more information on Supported Endpoint Types, see “CTMS Support of Endpoint Interoperability in Multipoint and Network Multipoint Meetings” section on page 2-11.
