Dear Parents, The Oconomowoc Public Library has a wonderful summer reading program. Please be sure to register your child and visit the library with your child every week. I am sure you do not want your child to go into a “summer slump” and lose the progress made during the 2018-2019 school year. The attached lists show titles of books at your child’s reading level that can be found at the Oconomowoc Public Library. Please be sure to check-out these books so he/she can read to you fifteen to twenty minutes each day this summer. Be sure to choose some fiction and some nonfiction books. Dear Parents,

The Oconomowoc Public Library has a wonderful summer reading program. Please be sure to register

your child and visit the library with your child every week. I am sure you do not want your child to go

into a “summer slump” and lose the progress made during the 2018-2019 school year.

The attached lists show titles of books at your child’s reading level that can be found at the

Oconomowoc Public Library. Please be sure to check-out these books so he/she can read to you fifteen

to twenty minutes each day this summer. Be sure to choose some fiction and some nonfiction books.

Reading each book to you more than once is highly recommended. This will build fluency, review sight

words, and solidify other tricky words.

Comprehension is also important.

fiction books: Have your child retell the story (beginning, middle, end) and ask a few questions after

reading (who, what, where, when, why, and how).

nonfiction books: Have your child tell you what he/she already knows about the subject before

reading, and what he/she learned about the subject after reading (along with who, what, where, when,

why, and how questions).

You can also have your child ask you questions. Answer incorrectly now and then so your child can

correct you!
