Phoenix when I was 16.

necessary to conduct inquiry and research and show independence in learning. They actively enjoy learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives.

• Knowledgeable They explore concepts, ideas and issues that have local and global significance. In so doing, they acquire in-depth knowledge and develop understanding across a broad and balanced range of disciplines.

• Thinkers They exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems, and make reasoned, ethical decisions.

What do YOU think?• Not only are these traits important to you as students; they’re important in

our study of history as well!• You and a group are now going to be assigned a learner trait and will have

to find a connection to a specific event/person in history. • Be ready to discuss and explain your reasoning! How do they relate to one

another?• For example, Gandhi was principled on his quest to gain independence from

the British empire. He acted with true integrity and honesty in order to preserve the values of the majority Indian-Hindu population. He was also willing to accept any consequences on his fight for fairness, justice, and respect.
