Now she has difficulty taking the kids to school, doing the shopping, and

managing basic household chores.

In fact, there are some days Lana finds it a struggle just to

get out of bed.

Page 6: Introducing · Lana experienced a traumatic incident at work and hasn’t been back since. Now she has difficulty taking the kids to school, doing the shopping, and

Lana’s Case Manager has asked her to see an IME.

Immediately she feels anxious, panicked and fearful, and it’s not just because she suffers from

mental health issues…

Page 7: Introducing · Lana experienced a traumatic incident at work and hasn’t been back since. Now she has difficulty taking the kids to school, doing the shopping, and

Lana lives in rural Australia, 250km away from her nearest regional centre. Her Case Manager has asked her to go to the city, and she hasn’t been there for years.

Page 8: Introducing · Lana experienced a traumatic incident at work and hasn’t been back since. Now she has difficulty taking the kids to school, doing the shopping, and

….How she will get there…?

….Who will pick up the kids…? …she doesn’t like to stay

away from home… What if she gets lost…?

Lana worries…

Page 9: Introducing · Lana experienced a traumatic incident at work and hasn’t been back since. Now she has difficulty taking the kids to school, doing the shopping, and

Lana’s Case Manager…

But Lana’s Case Manager says it’s the best option, or she’ll need to wait 5 months for the assessment.

Page 10: Introducing · Lana experienced a traumatic incident at work and hasn’t been back since. Now she has difficulty taking the kids to school, doing the shopping, and

Lana’s Case Manager…

She also needs Lana to see a Psychiatrist with the right sub-specialty to assess her condition, and for this she’ll need to travel.

So Lana agrees to go to the city for the assessment.

Page 11: Introducing · Lana experienced a traumatic incident at work and hasn’t been back since. Now she has difficulty taking the kids to school, doing the shopping, and

For the week before the assessment Lana stays awake worrying all night. She gets up early on the day of the assessment to make sure she gets there on time.

Page 12: Introducing · Lana experienced a traumatic incident at work and hasn’t been back since. Now she has difficulty taking the kids to school, doing the shopping, and

And by the time she arrives at her assessment, she is exhausted,

rattled and stressed.

She does the best she can...

Page 13: Introducing · Lana experienced a traumatic incident at work and hasn’t been back since. Now she has difficulty taking the kids to school, doing the shopping, and

…but after the assessment, she remembers all the things she

should have told the assessor, but didn’t.

Unfortunately, some of it was

important…

Page 14: Introducing · Lana experienced a traumatic incident at work and hasn’t been back since. Now she has difficulty taking the kids to school, doing the shopping, and

Lana wishes she hadn’t been so rattled during the assessment.

She would have done a better job telling the assessor what he needs to know.

But there’s nothing she could do.

There was no appropriate assessor close to home…
