What is Overdrive READ:

• A format for eBooks, which allows reading eBooks directly in the browser

• Requires no software or Adobe ID

• Once downloaded, can be read offline

• Works on most tablets and eReaders with a modern browser including the iPad, Kindle Fire, Nook Color, Nook HD, and Android tablets

1) Start at Wake County Public Libraries homepage, www.wakegov.com/libraries. Select link “Download Library”.

2)Select “Find eBooks”.

3) Select “Overdrive READ” to limit to books with Overdrive READ enabled.

4) Select “Available Now” to limit to only titles currently available.

5) Select a title you are interested in checking out.

6) To check out the title, select “Borrow”. (Tip: On the right is the list of formats available for this title)

7) Enter your library card number and PIN. Select “Sign In”. (Tip: check “Remember my login information on this device” for your card number & PIN to be remembered)

8) Once you have logged in, you will need to select “Borrow” again to check out.

9) Select “Go to Bookshelf”.

10)Select “Read” to read the book in the browser.

11)Once the book downloads, you can read it offline. You can save the URL as a bookmark and access it again if you close your browser.
