AROUND THE OFFICE

We work hard, but we play even harder.

This summer we got together for a softball game — the perfect way to blow off a little steam. Of course, the game was preceded by friendly trash talk and boasting, which raised the stakes and brought out everyone’s competitive spirit!

Rob Holliday, our Warehouse Assistant Manager, was the captain of the Fireballs. Jake Alpert, our COO, was the captain of a team that decided it didn’t even need a name. But the Fireballs prefer to think of them as the Snowflakes — delicate little snowflakes.

MVPs included Evan, our Director of Product Development, and Adam, our Pricing and Quotation Analyst for Distributor Sales, who were both big hitters. Rob was an amazing pitcher with a sneaky curveball, like a magician who could manipulate physics from his hand to the plate. But Rob’s fiancee, Melissa, was the Fireballs’ real secret weapon. She owned first and second base, and kept the outfielders scrambling each time she went up to bat.

Q Andersen, from our warehouse, revealed his true identity with Superman socks and T-shirt. His superpowers included catching fly balls and sliding into homeplate unscathed. Joey Paulukonis, a.k.a., “The Barefoot Bandit,” who handles our Inbound Inventory Receiving, decided he’d give himself a handicap just to even the playing field, taking off his shoes, and still managing to bring in a few runs.

In the end, the Fireballs smoked the Snowflakes. But we all got to know each other a bit better, and fun was had by all. Rumor has it the Snowflakes are looking to even the score, and the Fireballs are ready.

GIVING BACK

Helping local families meet their needs.

While busy getting our kids ready to go back to school, Keystone organized a sock drive for local children in need so they can also be ready for a new school year.

Our local chapter of The Needlework Guild of America distributed the socks to children in our surrounding neighborhoods. Keystone matched the number of pairs brought in by our team members for a grand total of 400 pairs. The socks were given to kids of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers.

Getting in our creative zone.

They say it’s healthy to take time to stop and smell the roses. And who are we to disagree? But we think it’s even better to stop and play with the roses. That’s why we spent an afternoon making flower arrangements, just for the fun of it. Abbey Alpert, our Events Coordinator, lead the event and guided the aesthetically challenged in creating colorfully coordinated arrangements. The afternoon kicked the evening off on the right note with flowers for our friends and family.
