þ Aims of Establishment

The purpose of this Association is to maintain and promote the safety of

workers and to contribute to national economic development by preventing

industrial accidents through establishing education and training by which

improving performance of workers and supervisors who work with scaffold and

its adjuncts; scientific and safe use of scaffold; conducting technical research

and development; providing technical assistance to workplace; and promoting

activities to eradicate illegal materials etc..

KSI is the only public institution for advanced scaffolding training

courses in Korea.

The training courses are developed to fit into the international

standards such as The National Access and Scaffolding Confederation

NASC), Britsh Standard(BS) as well as Korean regulations.

※ 「K-SRS (Korea scaffolding institution - Scaffolder Recognition

Scheme)」 : developed by KSI ; focusing on international standard,

practice and intensified program for safe scaffolding process

<Ex. ２> Chemical Plant (SK Energy)

① signed a MOU between SK Energy and KSI -developing a specified training program and materials for the

workplace, joint safety inspection ② Conducted scaffold safety training on the SK sites; issue a

licence card -staff and workers without the card have limited access to SK sites. ③ Joint inspection and review (including contractors and primary

constructor) -upgrade training materials reflecting results of inspections, advise

technical improvement -grading system: evaluation of contractors of the safety performance

and decide inspection interval on each contractor
